The reason I didn’t write this review sooner is because I didn’t really know how to start it. Hair removal is a very delicate topic for most women, it’s something we struggle with daily. When this trio popped up for purchase in the iFabbo shop I decided to grab it for myself and not for my husband, who uses an electric razor anyway and has no need for any extra products, except maybe the buffer stick.
As part of my regular de-foresting routine (lol) I use both razors and wax removal. I tried several hair removal creams before but they always give me rashes no matter what part of the body I apply them to, so I quickly gave up on that type.
After years and years of trying out different things I found out that men’s shaving products really do work the best for me and always provide much cleaner results. I have stashes upon stashes of Gillette Venus razors in my bathroom cabinet, and the only reason I still use them is because they were free, thanks to their Facebook giveaways. Same with the shaving products targeted for women, they just always felt so sticky and overly moisturizing, to the point when the freshly cut hairs would get stuck in the razor together with all that goop.
So what is it about HYD for Men that makes the brand special? Well, among other things, they have a unique product called Razor Shield, which is aimed to prolong the life of your blade and save some big bucks in the long run. If I had to buy my razors, I’d go for Gillette Pro Glide, and according to the calculations based on the MSRP this product would save me on average $107.94 per year in razor refills for that particular model! Not too shabby if true.
Aside from Razor Shield, HYD for Men sells everything else you might need for that clean and close shave. I particularly liked the Buffer Stick. If you’re a Birchbox subscriber and received a sample of Vasanti exfoliator, this is pretty much Vasanti in the form of a stick. It’s meant to buff the skin to prep it for shaving and prevent ingrown hair. I always manage to get a few of those on my legs, and after using the stick every other shave I noticed that I get less and less ingrowns. I hope the progress doesn’t end there and I will finally see the day when I have none at all, wouldn’t that be awesome? 🙂
And last but not least, the Shaving Cream, which is actually more like a shaving butter. It feels like a nice non-foaming lotion and provides a nice glide for the razor while slightly lifting the hairs up. It felt very moisturizing, but to my pleasant surprise it washes off completely without leaving any nasty residue on my skin or my razor.
So that’s it, these are the only three products HYD for Men makes for now, but it’s the quality that matters. Each one is unique and different from similar products in its respective category, and I look forward to seeing what other shaving innovations they come up with next time.

What are your favorite shaving products?
I haven’t ever considered using men’s products, but I am totally going to start testing them once I run out of shave gel. I totally get what you’re saying about the film on the razor.
I think you’re going to be surprised in a good way 🙂
Okay, now I feel better and I can confess…
I have been using men’s razors. I’m not overly furry. It’s just that my hair is coarse. I don’t feel like raking at my skin forever more. So, one day I went to the store where I buy my disposable razors and I saw that they were out of the cute lil’ feminine razors. In desperation, I bought a pack of the men’s razors. I’ve been hooked ever since.
And what do you know? No razor knicks since I’ve switched. Not. One.
Will I buy this product. No because I use disposable razors. But I’m so glad to see a post like what you wrote. I also feel that most women’s stuff is too sticky.
I don’t even buy most of the body washes on the market. I don’t want oil all over my cloth and my tub. I like a clean rinsing wash.
I don’t use shaving cream either. I just lather up and rake. I use body lotion anyway so why do I need that gook clinging to my skin?
What a great story, Terrah!
P&G and other major manufacturers should really take into consideration our evergrowing hate for women’s shaving products and just make all of them unisex, while keeping the same quality of the men’s razors.
I know, some girls prefer pink razors and would buy them just for the color, but how cool would it be if we could just choose a girly-colored handle and attach any type of razor refill to it, whether it’s men’s or women’s 🙂
Funny, I was just thinking today that it would be cool for someone to manufacture women’s girly colored razors with blades that are made for men.
You know like Secret deodorant: “Strong enough for a man but made for a woman!”.
Great minds think alike! 😉
