Brace yourselves, ladies, Summer is coming! What that means for many of us is that we will have to migrate from scruff-forgiving jeans, sweats and yoga pants into shorts, skirts and dresses. Naturally, we should probably give our great legs some love before we show them to the world in all their post-Winter glory.
Everything can be found at special Summer Play end caps at Target |
If you stopped by your local Target recently you might have noticed these new Summer Play displays that feature everything you need to achieve perfectly smooth legs and add a bright pop of color to your piggies. The products are all well-loved cult classics, like Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen lotions, Schick razors, Skintimate shaving gels, and Sally Hansen nail polish. To jumpstart my Summer leg care routine, I went ahead and picked up a few of them.
Shaving is always best done after your legs get all steamy in the shower, so instead of doing it first thing after jumping in, try to hold on and do it just before you are ready to get out. That will allow your hair to soften and will help prevent ingrowns and red bumps. Make sure to exfoliate with a scrub, mitt or a washcloth to help the razor glide on better and to ensure the closest shave.
Getting a close shave is possible with this duo. |
My old razor got dull, so I picked up this new Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care along with Skintimate Skin Therapy Sensitive Skin Shave Gel; it has a very moisturizing formula, rich in vitamins and oils, and a light pleasant fragrance. I love things that smell nice, it’s part of the experience for me!
These fabulous lotions both moisturize and protect from the sun. |
A lotion is a must after shaving, always. Don’t even think about skipping this step if your goal is silky legs! There are lots of different kinds out there so you can definitely find one that will work for you. For me, if I’m baring my skin, it has to provide broad-spectrum sun protection of at least SPF 30. I picked up Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30, Banana Boat Protect & Hydrate Sunscreen SPF 50, and Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Spray SPF 50 – enough to last all Summer.
These white stubs could really use SPF 500, but I’ll settle for 50 for now 🙂 |
By the way, did you know that sunscreen doesn’t store well? If your bottles are more than 2 years old, it’s time to replace them, since sunscreen loses its effectiveness overtime, especially after it’s been opened. Who wants to get a sunburn thinking they’re wearing SPF 50 only to find out later that it’s only as effective as SPF 20 after all those years in the storage?
Sally Hansen Insta-dri in 620 Poppin Paprika – Hot hot hot! |
Lastly, to give my legs a nice finished Summer look I chose a fun nail polish color to paint my nails with. There were so many different shades to choose from, but I decided on Sally Hansen Insta-dri in 620 Poppin Paprika. In my experience products from this line always lasted at least a week on my nails before the edges started chipping, and this bright coral color is perfect for the season!
My summer staple – bright pedi colors. P.S.: Don’t you just love those blingy seahorses? |

Thank you, doll! Loved your post, too, you are making me want all of those blushes 🙂
Love, love, love your pedi! Great photos again!
How good would it be if SPF 500 existed. I’d buy that!
I know that you have to be more careful to actually get the spray SPF on enough to achieve coverage, but I still love the idea.
Such cute shoes!
I love that shaving cream and razor! <3 It really does help minimize my pores. 🙂
Love the sandals with the bright polish! Skintimates is my fave 🙂
Love Love Love the picks. I need that polish too- great shade and looks amazing with those sandals and the beach in the background. Great post girl!
I love spray on sunscreens and the nail polish you’ve picked it perfect for the summer
Love that nail polish! That is a perfect toesies color!
Oh, I love this post. I love the polish color on your nails!
Great picks 🙂 I don’t show my legs in summer – or really ever. I have scars on my legs that I’m very self-conscious of, so my legs remained covered year round with pants/jeans/capris.

By far you have the best photos I have seen on a blog, like ever! To get my legs summer ready I need a good self tanner (I like LORAC’s!), sunblock (Neutrogena’s Beach Defense), hot pink nail polish and some good sunnies!
