Goodies Co. Taster’s Box Unboxing and Review: April 2013

Like I mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts, I’m always taking my time reviewing the boxes I didn’t enjoy very much. My April Goodies box was a bit disappointing, with most of the box being practically empty space.

I don’t think there was a theme this month, and they didn’t bother including a card with the list of products either. All that, in addition to very belated shipping resulted in many unhappy customers, so I predict they’re going to see a lot of people unsubscribing in May.

Wai Lana Lime Chili Chips
These chips were mildly spicy and majorly delicious, we split them with my husband and both liked them a lot. Lime flavored chips is certainly not something we eat every day, so it was a fun thing to try.

Lady Walton’s Cookies White Chocolate Amaretto Wafer Cookie
I didn’t bother warming up this cookie over a cup of tea, instead I just pigged it down on the spot. I love amaretto flavored everything, and almonds are my favorite nuts. The cookie was so delicious, I actually wanted to buy more from Goodies but they’re temporarily out of stock 🙁

Green Giant Sweet Potato Multigrain Chips
I didn’t care much for the flavor of these chips because I don’t particularly like sweet potatoes. They were just OK, but it’s a great healthy alternative to regular potato chips.

Angie’s Popcorn Sweet & Salty Kettlecorn
I’m not a huge fan of kettle corn, so I was indifferent to this sample. My husband, however, said that it tastes very good. I couldn’t squeeze any more details out of him, but I guess that means it got his seal of approval 🙂

Abbott Nutrition ZonePerfect Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Again, just not my personal taste. I never understood the point of eating raw cookie dough, and always waited patiently for the cookies themselves. To me, it’s like eating the ingredients for the dish instead of the dish, if that makes any sense. I know that I’m probably alone in this 🙂

Riega Foods White Cheddar Cheese Sauce Mix
I still haven’t tried this slightly fancier version of Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese, but I plan to as soon as I have some smaller-sized pasta (I always keep forgetting to buy it when I go to the store).

The verdict: Overall, a fairly “meh” box. I suppose the only reason I’m complaining is because I watched the boxes slowly go downhill in value and product sizes, but I’m sure there are many others who believe this box is a total steal for just $7 a month. The box also included a $50 gift card to a wine club that doesn’t deliver in my state, so I was a bit upset over that as well. I will be getting my May box free and I’m probably going to pause my subscription after that.

Are you a Goodies subscriber? What do you think of this month’s box?
