Glossybox May 2016 Unboxing & Review

Every beauty lover eventually gets bored of same old brands and products that you can find at any drugstore or department store. It’s no wonder that lately the popularity of foreign beauty brands is on the rise. Even Sephora now stocks some Korean goodies that you could only order from small online shops or pay to have them shipped directly from Korea until very recently. That’s what made Glossybox so popular in the US – the ability to sample beauty products from all over the world!

Glossybox May 2016 Unboxing & Review

My Glossybox May 2016 box contained a mix of products from well-known brands, and some that I never even knew existed. Luna decided to unbox it for me. Thanks, babe! 😉

HOW IT WORKS:

Glossybox is one of the most popular international beauty subscription services, and now it finally came to the US. Each month Glossybox subscribers receive up to six deluxe-size to full size products from crème de la crème of international brands. At $21/month this is one of the more expensive monthly sample boxes, but the value of your box will always be way above. Click here to join Glossybox, and don’t forget to use Ebates for $2.75 cashback!

CONTENTS:

1 // Talika Photo-Hydra Day Moisturizer [$29, available here] is packed with hyaluronic acid that helps deliver a boost of hydration to parched and tired skin. According to the info card, it also contains a special secret ingredient – amino-acid that recreates the effects of natural light to give your complexion healthy glow from within. So far I only used it for a few days, but my skin seems to be enjoying this lightweight gel-cream moisturizer. It will be great for upcoming summer months!

2 // benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara [$24, available here] samples are circulating among various subscription boxes, so I already had an opportunity to try this one before. At first I wasn’t a fan, but eventually the formula and the wand grew on me and now Roller Lash is one of my favorites. The trick is to use the bent sides of the wand away from the lashes rather than have them point inwards during the application. This way my winks are defined, curled, separated, and looking perfect all around. You should try it with all curled mascara wands – this trick makes all the difference!

3 // Rituals Cosmetics Shower Foam [$15, available here] is unlike any other bath product you’ve tried. I mean, I used shower foam before, but it basically looked like the foam you make with loofah, but finer. Rituals Shower Foam has the consistency of shaving foam, and feels amazing on the skin. A little goes a long way, too: walnut-sized amount was way more than I needed for one shower. After rinsing off the foam, the fragrance clings to the skin like perfume and stays on for hours. That would be problematic if these body washes smelled icky, but I tried two different kinds so far and both were olfactory delights.

4 // Nioxin System 3 Cleanser [$41, available here] and Scalp Therapy Conditioner [$50, available here] are both products I tried in the past. At one point in life I went through a stressful period when I started losing a lot of hair, and someone recommended I try Nioxin. I don’t know if it was the change in lifestyle, or the system actually worked, but after a few weeks I gradually stopped “shedding” so much, and my hair appeared fuller and airier, too. I will keep these two around for stressful times.

5 // Versaspa Face Moisturizing Gradual Tanner [$35, available here] is not a product I would have considered testing a mere few months ago, but recently I’ve been experimenting with self-tanners and will give it a try. According to the info card, these self-tanners are infused with marine algae to moisturize the skin, and specially formulated to minimize the unpleasant tanning odor. Not going to lie, that icky smell is one of the reasons why I usually hate self-tanners, so that promise is very tempting.

BOTTOM LINE:

I thought May Glossybox was very practical and perfectly curated to prepare me for upcoming summer months. From lightweight gel-cream moisturizer, to refreshing body foam and volumizing hair products, it was jam-packed with unique products. Plus, it’s nice to have a spare sample of Roller Lash mascara, I just ran out and was contemplating buying a new one.
