Glossybox March 2018 Review

Glossybox March 2018 Review

March is coming to a close, and so is my window to share the monthly box reviews on time. Luckily, with this one I’m all caught up! I think among the cheaper beauty subscription boxes, Glossybox definitely has the best packaging. No matter how many times I receive these, I never get tired of the beautiful pink outer boxes and the lovely hand-tied signature ribbons on the inside. The March Glossybox celebrates International Women’s Day with a True Beauty theme. The hard-working, multi-purpose products in the box are dedicated to inspiring women who are beautiful inside and out.

HOW IT WORKS:

Glossybox is one of the most popular international beauty subscription services, and now it finally came to the US. Each month Glossybox subscribers receive up to six deluxe-size to full size products from crème de la crème of international brands. The prices start at $21/month for a month-to-month subscription, but if you commit for 3, 6, or 12 months, the price goes down a bit. It’s not the cheapest sample box out there, but the retail value of the products will always be way above. Click here to check it out

CONTENTS:

1 // CoverFX Perfect Pencil Concealer in G Light ($20) – Glossybox sent a variety of concealer shades, and I was lucky enough to get a good color match. This concealer is perfect for small jobs, like very precise breakout coverage or cleaning the edges of your lip and brow outline. I tried using it for a larger area, and it didn’t work so well. To be fair, I don’t think this was intended to be used like that, and it does the job really well at covering blemishes and defining those perfect aches.

2 // Figs & Rouge Soft Focus Pore Perfect HD + Matte Veil ($35) – Getting a full-sized primer is always a good thing, considering that I use one almost every time I apply makeup. I did’nt really care for this one though. It was OK, but it is not the best performing primer in my collection. My main issue with it was the overall performance – the primer didn’t help mattify my skin, and my foundation didn’t last any longer than it would without a primer. Maybe it just doesn’t work well for my skin type?

3 // Form Beauty Multitask 3-in-1 Leave-In Lotion ($32) – I first spotted this brand while browsing natural offerings at Sephora, so I was extra stoked to see it in my Glossybox this month. If I was shopping at the store, this lotion wouldn’t be something I would want to try, but I’m glad I did. I thought it might be too heavy for my fine hair, but it was surprisingly lightweight. Basically, all it did was help manage the frizz and added some shine. My hair didn’t look weighed down or looked greasy. This leave-in may go on my spring shopping list.

4 // De Bruyere Beaute Jumbo Eye Pencil in Bubble 07 ($18) – I didn’t fully appreciate jumbo eye pencils until about 2 years ago when we went traveling. Every minute counts and makeup was the last thing I wanted to do, so I remembered that I had a travel-sized Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in my purse somewhere, and that saved me a ton of time on that vacation. So now I am keeping a few faves in wearable everyday colors that I can just smudge over the lids in a pinch and call it a day. This shade is pretty much perfect. It’s a cool shimmery taupe that looks beautiful on its own as an eyeshadow, or even used as an eyeliner on the bottom lids. I like the longevity too. I used it a few times so far and have been impressed with the staying power. So far it gets an A+ from me!

5 // Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in Rose-y Cheeks ($9.50) – Morgan Taylor nail polishes are not super well known, but the formula is outstanding. I’ve always enjoyed the beautiful high gloss finish and the impressive staying power. There were several different shade varieties that we could get this month and I think I lucked out with this one, as it’s the most interesting from the bunch.

6 // [BONUS] Unani Il-luminate Milk Cleanser ($18) – This was a bonus product included in the March box, as a special extra something-something to celebrate Women’s Day. All subscribers received different Glossy Faves, and mine was this gentle non-foaming cream cleanser. You guys know I am a total cleanser snob, but I actually liked this one. It’s not ideal for removing long-lasting or waterproof makeup, but it works just fine as a gentle daily cleanser to remove minor impurities and sweat.

BOTTOM LINE:

This was a great box to begin with, and the addition of a full-sized cleanser as an extra made it even more special. My favorite product this month would have to be the full-sized CoverFX concealer pen, not only because it’s a good match for my foundation, but also because I did’t own one already. As a beauty blogger I am lucky enough to have a pretty big makeup and skincare collection, so it’s rare to receive a product that I don’t already have dupes for. And now I can’t wait to see what’s in store for April!
