Two Years Later … Glossybox April 2015 Review

It’s been two years since I last bought a Glossybox, but after seeing spoilers for April, I could not resist picking it up. Sounds like the issues I had with the company have been fixed, so I decided to stay subscribed for the time being [I have the May box coming to me soon as well].

Glossybox April 2015 review: Marrakesh Endz Split End Mender & Preventer, Aerin Waterlily Sun, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Stained Gloss in Androgyne, Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Serum, and Julep Gel Eye Glider in Graphite Shimmer >> http://bit.ly/1QKiGxd | via @glamorableThis month’s box came in a limited edition pop-art inspired packaging, and featured some of the best products I’ve seen in a box, ever. Unfortunately, one of the samples was backordered, so I had to wait for my package until mid-May, but it was so worth it!

What I did get is some nice weight added to the bottom of my locks, so they looked straighter. If your hair tends to be flat at the top and poofy on the bottom, this thing might help balance it out. I applied a tiny amount to wet hair after washing, and then styled as usual for best results.

Waterlily Sun is a prime example of a floral done right. It has some amazing depth to it, a lot of sweetness that transforms into bitterness, some freshness, that turns into sensual musk – everything a sophisticated fragrance should be. It is expensive, and it smells expensive. The formula is EDP, so it’s more concentrated than a typical Eau de Toilette. On me one spritz lasted seven hours, and even then I could still smell faint traces of jasmine. The bouquet consists of Sicilian bergamot, lush greens, waterlily, jasmine sambac, and musk.

Unfortunately, the color I received takes me *way* too far outside of my comfort zone, I just can’t wear lipstick that orange or I will look strange, to say the least. However, other colors in the collection [except for yellow] are absolutely fabulous! Glossybox definitely put these glosses on my radar, and I even picked up this set while it’s on sale.

Sign me up! I started using this serum as soon as I was done with the pictures, and I like the way it feels on the skin. It absorbs instantly, and doesn’t make my moisturizer roll off in flakes. I obviously can’t report on the effectiveness, but so far I have not experienced any irritation or discomfort.

I’ve tried their lip gloss the other day, and now I have an eye pencil in my hand – both proved to be very impressive! This pencil feels like a gel eyeliner, and has some serious staying power – not even makeup remover could get rid of it, I had to use a combination of cleansing balm and bi-phase remover to properly cleanse my skin. The color is beautiful as well – I received Graphite Shimmer, which is a dark gray with some silvery sparkles. It looks gorgeous on the lids!

Very handy!

THE VERDICT: I think my excitement for this box is pretty obvious – every product inside is top notch, and the packaging makes it all even better. I kept thinking that I should have grabbed more of these, because they would make amazing gifts. Orange lip gloss might not be my personal cup of tea, but there are plenty of girls who can rock it with confidence.

I’d say that box was well worth the price! You got some great stuff! I’d love to try the Julip gel liner especially in the graphite shade. And the makeup bag was so cute!

It’s hard for me to accept that Julep can make anything other than nail polish, but everything from their non-polish line that I tried has been impressive.

I like the design of the box this month but the only products that I’m excited about are the argan oil and the Julep liner.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:48 am

The liner is so pretty in person, my pics don’t do it justice.

  4. May 18, 2015 / 12:46 pm

I like how you got such a varied mix of both skincare, makeup and brands in the box!

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:47 am

The variety and the brands were very impressive; it was nice to get full-sized products, too. Well done, Glossybox!

This looks like a stellar box. I should have ordered it.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:47 am

It was the perfect selection of five-star products, indeed. Still obsessing over the perfume – it’s perfect for the Summer.

I have been so impressed with Glossybox lately!! I can’t wait to see what’s in my May one because I LOVED the April box!

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:46 am

Me, too! After seeing the contents of this box, I decided it’s time I gave Glossybox another chance, so here I am, a subscriber again 2 years later 🙂

I love the actual box and the makeup bag. I don’t think I’d use much in the box though other than the eyeliner although I hear Enlighten is a great product.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:45 am

That eyeliner is beautiful 🙂 I think there were several colors sent out, but I’m very happy with the one I got.

  9. May 18, 2015 / 4:25 pm

So excited to OCC in here!

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:43 am

I actually noticed that Glossybox sends OCC a lot. In the past I got a lip liner, lip tars, and nail polish from them, too.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:43 am

Doesn’t it? Very impressive list of products and brands.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:43 am

It’s a cute one 🙂 I decided to gift it to someone instead of keeping it for myself, since I already have a million.

  10. May 18, 2015 / 8:27 pm

wow, that IS a bright orange! I love me some orange, but I’m not even sure I could wear it!

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:42 am

I know, right? I love wearing orange too, but not true orange like this one.

  11. May 18, 2015 / 8:56 pm

    They do have cute packaging.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:42 am

I wasn’t, so I stopped subscribing, but they’ve definitely improved after 2 years!

I havent tried Glossybox yet! The contents are amazing

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:40 am

Back when I was a subscriber (years ago) they didn’t used to be that great, but lately the boxes looked amazing, and I felt like resubscribing again 🙂 This month was stellar!

  14. May 19, 2015 / 1:49 am

Great box! I actually picked up a sample of Waterlilly Sun when there was a fragrance PWP available, and it’s really nice! I like the blend of bright citrus with the lower woody notes. It’s becoming my goto fragrance right now!

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:39 am

I’m so happy to hear that I’m not alone in my love for Waterlily Sun! It’s the perfect Summer fragrance 🙂 I’ve been wearing it a lot recently, too.

I like Aerin Waterlily. I got a decent-sized sample from Neiman Marcus; surprisingly my fragrance snob hub said it smells nice on me

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:39 am

I liked it, too. It’s a good example of a sophisticated bittersweet floral, and it smells very unique.

    • May 19, 2015 / 8:37 am

Right? I am now a big fan of these, too, even though I didn’t care for the bright orange one I got. They have pinks that I will rock for sure 😉

  16. May 19, 2015 / 1:40 pm

This is a fantastic box. I wish Glossy would start sending to Hawaii again because I would re-sign up if they did. I would love to try Aerin Waterlily – that sounds like a scent I would truly enjoy.

    • May 19, 2015 / 7:01 pm

I had no idea they don’t send to Hawaii, that’s a bummer 🙁 But yes, I think you would have liked Waterlily 🙂

      • May 19, 2015 / 11:04 pm

I’m not sure if they decided because of the hasmat items that they could no longer send, but I did get it before, received 4 boxes before they told me they couldn’t… that is when they first started up in the US. I am gonna check again and see if they have indeed started up again 😀

I have been wanting to try Aerin!

    • May 20, 2015 / 1:33 pm

It’s a lovely fragrance, if you’re into bitter florals 🙂 I know I am, so I’m totally obsessing over it, haha!
