Do you like vintage decor? I find it quite charming, but I wish I was better at incorporating it into a modern interior. There are, however, countless examples of perfectly integrated contemporary meets vintage decor ideas on Pinterest that inspire me to at least give it a try! Whether you’re a seasoned decorator with great taste or someone like me who is still learning how to put things together, Frankie & Albert can offer something rally fun – a personalized monthly box of one-of-a-kind vintage finds tailored to your preferences.

I said that when decorating I usually lean toward single-toned things, because they are easy to incorporate into any interior. I also mentioned liking items made of wood, porcelain, stone, and bronze. Among vintage styles I specifically noted art deco shapes and patterns. And of course, vintage fashion magazines!

The first two products I unwrapped were creamy white chalices with etched ornaments on the side. I plan to use both in the guest bathroom – one for holding multi-colored cotton balls, and the other one for Q-tips. My other ideas included using them to hold lipsticks or using them as candle holders. Pretty versatile, aren’t they?

I think it can easily be used as a beautiful paperweight! The lighter part is detachable, so if I wanted to, I could use it as a candle holder as well. I think it’s much cooler as a lighter though.

One of them is a swan figurine with a hollow in its back, which I believe was used to store toothpicks. I’ve seen similar toothpick holders before, or I would have thought it’s a hole for candles.

I’ll get right on that as soon as I can find time for these projects! For now the leaf is housing one of my favorite LUSH soaps in the kitchen and the swan is resting on a shelf in the living room.

My grandma used to frame beautiful magazine pictures like that, too! I haven’t been to her place since she passed away, so this picture brought some good memories of her and reminded me of one of her little quirks that always amused me as a kid.

THE VERDICT: As you can see, each item was selected based on my preferences, the curators really worked hard to please, and succeeded.I read some slightly negative reviews about this service before, but I think the key to getting what you want is being as specific as possible, which I think I was. Don’t be afraid to mention totally random things, like your love for cats, pineapples, and aliens, because F&A just might be able to find exactly what you want!  By the way, my favorite items from the box are the two chalices and the little bronze tray.

What do you think about this type of subscription service? Do you use any vintage items in your current decor?
