Fall into Winter Makeup Ideas

I am a FragranceNet.com Brand Ambassador, but the product selection and all opinions are genuinely my own. #FragranceNet

If you love makeup, chances are you also love seasonal makeup trends! I certainly do, because it makes me want to use different colors and finishes instead of being stuck in a rut using the same palette, blush, and lipstick all year round. Today I wanted to share with you how I updated my routine since Fall and maybe give you some Winter makeup ideas.

Fall into Winter Makeup Ideas

My Fall looks were all about the lips: matte berries and satiny caramel browns dominated the lippie game. Paired with bold brows and a subtle [or simple and defined] cat eyeliner, this was my look of choice for Fall 2015. Winter kind of changed my take on makeup though, and it’s not really the runway trends that made me do it. I usually have to consider what my face would look like outdoors in the daylight, and let me tell you that the same lipstick will appear very different with grey sky and snowy landscape versus green grass plus sunshine.

For Winter 2016 I strategically picked a combination of nude, almost pale lips, with a muted brown smokey eye. Lack of sunshine outside really makes these classic colors from YSL Saharienne Couture Palette a work of art. I chose to pair it with NARS Belle de Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: it features the perfect combination of sheer-medium coverage and matte finish.

Here’s how I did my eye makeup for this post [and huge thanks to my Snapchat fam for helping me pick a photo! I cropped it a bit though ;)]:

1 // Apply the peachy color all over the lids as a base.

2 // Add some of that mushroom brown to the crease. Blend!

3 // Apply that silvery taupe to the inner and outer corners of the lid. Blend, blend!

4 // Use the middle brown “shimmery coffee bean” pan as an eyeliner and run along the bottom lash line, starting from the middle and toward the outer corner. Blend, blend, blend!

5 // The lightest shade in the palette was perfect as a highlighter! I used it in the inner corner of the eyes over the tear duct, dragged it along the bottom lid, starting from the middle and toward the inner corner. I also added a little bit in the middle of each top lid. Blend lightly to make sure it stays in place!

Easy, right? I just love this look, it really brings all focus to the eyes, but that matte nude lip is a showstopper, too. Here’s what I used on the rest of my face:

Love that YSL palette. I’m a neutral girl and love the subtle shades! Very soft pretty look girly!

I just love that YSL palette – it’s perfect for my taste. This is all so pretty.

It’s one of their better palettes, and the quality is very good. I am normally not a fan of their eyeshadows, but this one is a pleasant exception.

Wow, that is a stunning eye look on you. I wish Fall lasted longer here in Florida because I love Fall shades. I just wear them into Winter. It takes the holidays for me to change into full-on glitter mode, and I admit, I haven’t given it up yet. GLITTERRRRRRR

Thank you Nidia! I love Fall shades, too, and Fall is my favorite season. Too bad it doesn’t last longer 🙂

Gorgeous YSL palette, and that pale nude lip suits you so well. I tried wearing that shade yesterday and it’s just too pale for me. Love your look!

Thank you Allison! I am super fair, so lippies like this one actually look nice instead of washing me out. It’s a hard color to pull off though.

What a pretty look for everyday! You know, I always think about lighting when it comes to photography, but I forget that lighting plays a part in our everyday appearance, too! It’s going to be cloudy here until Thursday, which means almost a week without much sunshine. Something to think about when I’m planning my makeup for the week!

I know, right? It took me a long time to realize that. Almost all of my life I didn’t care about the lighting, and then a year or so ago I had a eureka moment. Since then I always do my makeup according to the forecast 🙂
