Fall Beauty Inside and Out

It’s finally Fall, you guys! I can’t tell you how much I love this season, and I’m sure being a September baby massively contributed to that. Seriously though, there’s just something magical in the air that you can only feel this time of the year, don’t you think? It makes me want to slow down and take a closer look at my daily habits, and maybe even rearrange a few things here and there.

One of the first things I tend to reshuffle is my beauty and wellness routine. I get so caught up in my habits that I do everything automatically without giving it much thought, like mindlessly taking the same vitamins every day or using the same beauty products. When you change things up, even if it’s just a small change, I feel like it helps to be more mindful of those daily rituals and more aware of what you are actually doing.

I live in Michigan where we experience all four seasons fully, so I try to adjust my routine to the upcoming environment. I’m anticipating two major changes to prepare the skin for in the upcoming weeks:

1 // INDOOR HEATING – I swear, it doesn’t matter what your skin type is because indoor heating is merciless to all of them. Last winter my face suffered so much, it basically turned from combination to dry!

2 // WEATHER – Although I spend most of the day working indoors, I’m not exactly holed up in here. When I go outside, the products I use need to be appropriate for the current weather conditions and protect my skin from the elements.

With that said, I just picked up a couple of things at Walmart to complement my current fall beauty routine.

Best beauty products at Walmart - Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Best beauty products at Walmart - Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser

First of all, I got a new bottle of cleanser. When my face is subjected to either indoor heating or cold winds every day, I try to make sure that the products I’m using are very gentle and don’t irritate the skin or dry it out even more. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser fits the bill, and it’s actually one of my favorite cleansers of all time! I discovered it a long time ago on Reddit when I first learned about the science-proven benefits of slightly acidic cleansers and my mind was blown forever. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser has a lovely pH-balanced formula that leaves my face feeling soft, clean, and never stripped of moisture. I actually just wanted to get the cleanser, but when I saw Cetaphil Healthy Skin Essentials, I thought it was a really good deal and went with that. This Walmart exclusive set includes a cleanser, lotion, and a bonus mini pack of cleansing cloths. Considering that even the 8oz cleanser is going to last me forever, I figured I’d go for the 3-in-1 deal since I can use everything in the set.

By the way, if Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser is your everyday go-to, you should take advantage of this other exclusive offer at Walmart. This week the retailer is offering special savings on this Cetaphil skincare set that includes Daily Facial Cleanser 16oz [the biggest size] and a full-sized pack of Makeup Remover Wipes for sensitive skin.

Best beauty products at Walmart - Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir, Best beauty products at Walmart - Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir,

Another great way to boost your skincare routine is to incorporate a beauty oil suitable for your skin type. I’ve heard so much about Physicians Formula skincare collection and always wanted to try something from the range. I remember one of my favorite beauty YouTubers raving about Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir, so I got a bottle to try when I walked by that aisle. It was the last bottle on the shelf, too, it seems it’s a pretty popular product. You guys, I am so in love with the way this oil makes my skin feel! It seriously feels smooth as silk, and so soft too. So far I used it on its own and mixed a few drops into my daily moisturizer and my body lotion, but honestly just want to slather it all over, haha! This oil is formulated with 99.5% organic ingredients, including exotic Mongongo Oil, Natural Rhodiola Extract, Organic Argan Oil, and Organic Jojoba Oil and the quality is top-notch. I couldn’t believe it was under $15 because this feels like an expensive, high-end beauty product.

Pro tip: if you have combination skin like me and using an oil scares you a little, try applying it this way first and see how you like it. After taking a shower when your face is still damp and warm, take 1-2 drops of this oil and spread it over your face and neck [right over those water droplets], then proceed with your routine as usual. You’ll see how well it helps your skin retain moisture, all without feeling sticky or greasy!

Best beauty products at Walmart - elf Cosmetics Glow Dewy Mist

You probably heard the term “glass skin” once or twice. It’s a popular phenomenon on social media that, like many skincare trends, came to us from Korea. Glass skin refers to a dewy, radiant complexion that has an almost ethereal glow to it. And no, we’re not talking about the intense glow you achieve with highlighters, it’s more of a gloss effect that naturally accompanies healthy, smooth, well-hydrated skin. I thought I’d try to up my glass skin game by adding a facial mist that’s a bit more nourishing than the one I normally use, so I bought e.l.f. Cosmetics Glow Dewy Mist with coconut and argan oils. It smells like the beach and definitely gives my complexion a little oomph!

Don’t be deceived by this mist! It’s basically a very runny, white milky lotion so you aren’t just spraying your face with water. It actually stays on the skin like a thin, barely-there veil, and I found it to be especially helpful when I want to give the skin a hydrating boost without disturbing my makeup.

Best beauty products at Walmart - Hello Bello Hair Skin + Nails

I’m a firm believer in beauty from within, and I feel like the right supplements can really help boost the look of my skin, hair, and nails. I normally don’t take them during the summer months because we just naturally get a lot of vitamins through food from eating fresh seasonal produce. However, once the season is over, I try to supplement with select vitamins, or just buy an already pre-made blend. This time I picked up Hello Bello Hair, Skin + Nails, which contains a mix of Vitamins C, E, and Biotin – all the good stuff, basically. Have you seen it at your local Walmart yet? Not going to lie, it was the cute packaging that grabbed my attention first, but then I quickly looked it up and saw all the rave reviews online and decided to give it a shot. It’s too early to tell whether it works or not, but these gummies sure taste great!
