With holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start figuring out the list of gifts we have to get. Do you have any polishaholics in your life? Luckily, I don’t [well, other than myself, of course], otherwise it would have been very hard to gift them a bottle of pretty nail polish they don’t already own… And that’s where indies come in! Small independent nail polish companies usually have the most unique nail polish blends that will satisfy just about any polish collector.
Today I’m reviewing a few colors from Evolve Indie Polish, a brand started by artist/polishist Amy Andujar. Each batch is hand-blended and hand-poured with love, and clean 5-free formula can match up to the highest industry standards.
This October Evolve Indie Polish celebrates their official launch at Gloss48, a new online beauty retailer that promotes lesser-known indie brands. If mass-market products are just not your cup of tea, or you are looking for something new and different, definitely check them out! Gloss48 adds new products daily, and for the first week you can get them at a discount. All new members receive a voucher for $10 off $30 or more, combine that with a sale and you’ve got yourself a sweet deal!
By the way, Evolve Indie Nail polish will be officially available on Wednesday, October 22nd at 11am and the sale prices will be valid through Wednesday, October 29th at 11am. The collection will include fall brights and an exclusive duo that is only available on Gloss48: Candy Corn Scorned & October Skies. Each duo is housed in a cute giftable tin, so if you’re buying these as a present, you won’t even have to worry about the gift packaging.
Evolve Indie Polish Valley Girl and Lovers Rock Duo |
Evolve Indie Polish Valley Girl |
Evolve Indie Polish Lovers Rock |
For this review I received three duos. The first one is a pair of Valley Girl and Lovers Rock.
Evolve Indie Polish Valley Girl |
Valley Girl is best described as a baby powder white cream. It’s extremely pigmented and can easily be a one-coater! The formula is on a thick side, so I had to wait longer than usual between coats, otherwise the brush would create unsightly smudges. This color is absolutely gorgeous on! I had another off-white from Color Club that I like, but now this one is my favorite for sure.
Evolve Indie Polish Lovers Rock over Valley Girl |
The second polish in this duo is Lovers Rock. It’s a mix of white, silver, and red hexagonal and square glitters suspended in a clear base. I liked that I didn’t have to fish for the glitters, or put in any extra effort in trying to align the flecks perfectly – the brush pretty much did it all. I also liked that the surface of my nails stayed smooth after the glitter dried. This formula is consistent across all glitters, so I’m not going to repeat myself below.
Evolve Indie Polish Cupcake Tour and Coralavish Duo |
Evolve Indie Polish Cupcake Tour |
Evolve Indie Polish Coralavish |
Second duo is actually a duo of glitters; it features Cupcake Tour and Coralavish.
Cupcake Tour is a very pretty mix of lavender, celery, peach, and sky blue hexagonal and square glitters suspended in a clear base. I love this mix of colors, it has a lot of depth to it.
Evolve Indie Polish Coralavish over Valley Girl |
Coralavish lives up to its name! It’s a gorgeous blend of white, coral, sky blue, royal purple, true red, and silver hexagonal and square glitters suspended in a clear base. It really looks like a tropical fish, doesn’t it?
Evolve Indie Polish Galactical Tactics and Carnival Lite Duo |
Evolve Indie Polish Carnival Lite |
Evolve Indie Polish Galactical Tactics |
Third duo features a glitter and a crelly – Galactical Tactics and Carnival Lite.
Evolve Indie Polish Carnival Lite |
Carnival Lite is a really subtle play on red-white-and-blue theme, with tiny light blue and brownish red hexagonal glitters added to slightly off-white crelly base. I had a hard time determining if the base is the same color as Valley Girl, and decided that Carnival Lite is just a smidge cooler, while Valley Girl has more yellow in it. Or maybe I’m just crazy and my mind is telling me they’re different only because I was trying really hard to find that difference. Either way, they’re very very close. This formula is not as thick as Valley Girl, so I could easily apply the second coat right away, and it dried down to a beautiful semi-matte finish.
Evolve Indie Polish Galactical Tactics over Valley Girl |
The last color for today, Galactical Tactics, is a mix of navy, light blue, and silver hexagonal, square, and bar glitters suspended in a clear base. The brush had a hard time picking up bar glitters, so I ended up with just 2-3 of them across all my nails, which is okay with me, since I’m not a huge fan of bar glitter to begin with.
Evolve Indie Polish glitters – three coats of each |
And finally, I swatched all four glitters alone without a creme base just so you could see the opacity and the glitter distribution. All of these swatches feature three coats with no top coat, and I didn’t have to fish for the flecks or arrange them.

Glad you like them! Do you have a favorite glitter polish? I’m actually new to glitters, so I don’t have that many, but I’m looking to expand the collection.
