Empties vol. 52

Empties vol. 52

Things slowed down a bit around here, but guess what didn’t slow down at all? My beauty product consumption! 🙂 I managed to finish a few stragglers that were sitting in the drawers half-empty, nearing their expiration dates, so I made a point to switch my entire routine to accommodate them.

SKINCARE:

1 // Dior Capture Youth Age Delay Advanced Creme* ($95) – This moisturizer is fancy, and comes in beautiful packaging, but I didn’t find the formula particularly impressive. It looks good in pictures so I sometimes used it as a background prop, but didn’t feel like putting it on my face for some reason. It’s not very moisturizing, and doesn’t seem like it’s really doing anything for well-aging beyond sub-par hydration.

Repurchase? No.

2 // ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads* ($60) – These are actually pretty nice! They’re thoroughly soaked in solution so you aren’t rubbing your skin with dry rough cotton rounds, but not so wet that you get drips down your neck. I actually used them on my body too, not just the face. They work wonders for more gentle areas that normally can’t tolerate scrubs, like your chest and decollete, and can help with ingrowns in the bikini zone.

Repurchase? No. They’re good, but not better than many other similar exfoliating pads on the market.

3 // Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Eye Cream* ($69) – This is my favorite product from Grown Alchemist! Loved everything about it, from the packaging to the formula. It helped with puffiness, smoothed the look of fine lines, and made me look more awake. Plus, the texture is smooth and silky, and absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy layer.

Repurchase? Maybe. If I run out of all my eye creams, this would be the one I’d consider repurchasing.

BATH & BODY:

4 // Christophe Robin Shade Variation Mask Baby Blonde ($53) – This was one of the first products I purchased when I got balayage a few years ago, and it’s been one of my favorites since. It’s very potent and you only need a little to refresh your blonde from brassy to cooler-toned, so it took a long time to finish. It also acts as a proper hair masque, softening and detangling dry and brittle parts.

Repurchase? Yes! It’s one of my top products for highlighted blonde hair.

5 // Lord Jones High CBD Body Lotion ($40) – This is a pretty straightforward product, a topical CBD treatment in lotion form. CBD works differently for everyone, and I personally use externally for localized pain relief and internally for mental relaxation.

Repurchase? Yes, I already have.

It seems that the more I like a product, the more likely I am to finish it. I also noticed that I tend to “abandon” things if I’m not 100% happy with them, as was the case with the Dior moisturizer. They all end up in the maybe pile where they eventually sit around and slowly expire, so I’m not quite sure how to address that. I understand that partially using products is wasteful, but at the same time, trying new things is part of this whole blogging thing. I already scaled back on accepting PR packages in general, but sometimes things come unannounced. What would you do?

Did you finish any new beauty products recently? Any standouts or repurchases?
