Holiday Gifts from Dermalogica: One for You, One for a Friend
I started giving beauty gifts all thanks to my Mom. She would always ask what kind of skincare or makeup product is currently on my wishlist, and get me exactly that, plus a few extras that I might also like. She was definitely the one who started my love for skincare in the first place, that’s why I enjoy giving beauty gifts to all of the women in my life for every occasion. This holiday season Dermalogica released several holiday value sets, and I wanted to quickly show you two of my personal picks, in case you are looking for some fool-proof gift ideas for yourself or your besties, too!
Daily Defenders Set ($69/$92 value) comes with three anti-aging superstar products that help reduce the appearance of skin aging. These treats were carefully selected to complement and enhance your existing beauty routine, so they can seamlessly fit in with the products already on your vanity table.
The set includes:
- Skin Resurfacing Cleanser (travel size)
- Antioxidant Hydramist (travel size)
- Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 (full size!)
First things first, Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 is hands down one of the best facial sunscreens I’ve ever used. SPF is super important for protecting the skin from premature aging, and that’s why my anti-aging beauty routine is never complete without one. This is not your typical beach sunblock, though. Dynamic Skin Recovery has a highly sophisticated formula enriched with potent antioxidants, patented Oleosome encapsulation technology that boosts sunscreen effectiveness, and a peptide complex that helps encourage collagen-producing activities. I use it as my daily moisturizer, because it’s creamy, nourishing, and nothing like the thick, greasy sunblocks from my youth.
Antioxidant Hydramist is a hydrating toner in a spray form that can be used to refresh the skin in the middle of the day, set makeup, or like a regular toner by soaking a cotton round and swiping it gently across your face. The formula contains antioxidants and a peptide complex to keep the skin looking hydrated and smooth. Basically, it’s a mist that’s more than just water. 😉
Skin Resurfacing Cleanser is a fabulous cleansing milk that contains 5% Lactic Acid to help gently exfoliate dead skin cells and increase cell turnover. Cleanser buffs will be happy to hear that this is a low pH product – my strips register somewhere between pH4.0 and pH4.5. By the way, skin that is regularly exfoliated always looks healthier and younger, and using acidic cleansers is a very easy way to do it without scratchy, abrasive scrubs that may irritate delicate skin. I like that my face feels instantly smoother after the very first use.
Lip Smoothing Duo ($27/$45 value) comes with two of the brand’s best-selling products for lips. Together, they help address the signs of aging on the lips and the skin around them, making the pout appear plumper, and the lines less pronounced.
The set includes:
- Renewal Lip Complex (full size!)
- Nightly Lip Treatment (travel size)
Renewal Lip Complex is an ultra nourishing lip balm with Avocado Oil, Shea, and Cocoa butters that helps keep the lips hydrated while making the lip lines less visible. As with all things Dermalogica, this is not just any lip balm. The formula also contains potent antioxidant Vitamin E, and a patented polypeptide that helps restore tissue and prevent the signs of aging caused by glycation.
I reviewed Nightly Lip Treatment here, along with a few other Dermalogica products for combination skin, so I’ll keep it short. This is like an overnight mask just for your lips and the skin around them. If you have vertical lines that go beyond the lip contour, this is the product that directly addresses the issue. I use it myself, and it works like magic.
There are two more gift sets available on Dermalogica website if you want to take a look at those, too. I just have a soft spot in my heart for Daily Defenders Set and Lip Smoothing Duo, since they feature some of my all-time favorites. The products are top notch, and the value is there, so you or your giftee will surely breeze through the holiday season looking your best.
Do you usually give beauty gifts? If you could receive any skincare product as a gift, which one would it be? Let me know in the comments!
Both sets look impressive! I would love to give gifts of skincare, but alas my friends/family don’t share my love of skincare products
Ahh, we just chatted about that in the Facebook group didn’t we? 🙂 Luckily, I am now surrounded by women who love beauty products and often rely on my taste to pick something for them.
I used to give beauty gifts but I don’t do it often now. My sister works in the industry so she knows what she likes. I do occasionally give my DIL an eye cream now that I think about it. That said, I think these are great packages for people to try themselves.
I agree, these may be marketed as gifts, but really they’re value bundles any of us can pick up for ourselves as a treat.
I sometimes give beauty gifts
I think a lot of women enjoy pampering gifts, but not everyone knows what products they need. I’m glad my friends and fam rely on my taste to pick out something for them, usually they end up liking the products 🙂
These are really nice gift sets. I got a dermatologica one once and really enjoyed the variety of products.
I’m glad you have such good memories of your dermalogica gift!
