Citrus Lane Unboxing and Review: November 2013

pr sample

As someone who doesn’t have kids yet, I’ve always wanted to see what comes in those Citrus Lane boxes. Being a subscription box addict [totally in a good way!] I feel like I would want my little ones to get surprises in the mail just like their mommy. I also realized that if I break up the contents of these boxes into individual items I would have several nice Christmas presents for all of my baby nieces and nephews [the youngest one is only a month old]. So if you’re looking for Christmas or Birthday ideas for babies and older kids, check out this review written from the perspective of a person that doesn’t have children yet.

HOW IT WORKS
Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription service that delivers 4-5 hand-picked products for kids aged from newborn to 5 years old. The boxes cost $25/month including complimentary shipping & handling. Box selections include items such as toys, books, snacks, household and body care products, as well as the occasional treat for parents.

Just so you all know, I chose to review a gender neutral box tailored for a 3-year old child, since most of my nieces and nephews fall into that category. This way I’m going to give my opinion on the products, and then update this review with the kids’ experiences 🙂 I bet you all can’t wait to hear what they have to say about these goodies, but for now here’s what I think of them.

Dreamz & Twinkles To Go Nightlight from Cloud B – as a kid I always loved fun nightlights like this one, and I just can’t help having a warm feeling in my stomach when I look at this happy little cloud. By the way, this nightlight has two light color options – green and blue 🙂

Hohner Kids Wooden Rhythm Sticks – I’m not entirely sure what these are and how they work because I didn’t have them as a kid, so I had to get some help from google. Aside from raving reviews on Amazon, these sticks are actually very affordsble. Considering how quickly some kids get bored of their toys, I think it’s a great thing. One reviewer even mentioned that she buys them for her adult friend who plays Reggae, and they work just as well as the professional rhythm sticks that cost over 10 times more.

BOPS Sea Salt Organic Potato Snack – You could say that these are a more upscale version of classic potato chips; currently BOPS are the only certified organic potato crisps on the market. These chips are baked instead of fried, and at 120 calories per pouch they contain 65% less fat than regular chips, making them a much healthier snack option.

Ladybug Magazine the September Issue – I’ll let you in on a little secret: I have a nickname for my car and it’s Ladybug 🙂 Ladybug series of magazines features poems and stories that are just the right length to keep your child entertained, with content appropriate for your little one’s specific age group. I briefly flipped through the magazine, and even I found it very sweet, colorful and entertaining. As an added bonus, Citrus Lane subscribers received a code for a complimentary 3-month digital subscription!

THE VERDICT
I think Citrus Lane is an infinitely entertaining subscription service, and if they’re still around when I decide to have kids, I will most certainly sign up. All of the products seemed high quality and age-appropriate, so my little nieces and nephews will have a blast playing with them, and I just can’t wait to share with you what they think about their new toys.
