The warm-toned eye shadow trend is still going strong this winter. I know some of my friends are getting tired of warm palettes, but I can’t get enough of those smoldering shades because they complement my complexion the best. This year I finally got brave enough to experiment with a rusty ochre smokey eye! It was a bold move on my part since I normally keep things very neutral and minimal, but I totally rocked that one and felt super confident wearing a new look 🙂 But I digress…

While I am probably not going to be doing any Black Friday shopping myself this year – at least not for cosmetics – I really wanted to bring Chanel Les 4 Ombres Legerete et Experience ($61) to your attention, because it’s such a pretty palette!

“Ideal for creating holiday eye looks, this Exclusive Creation eyeshadow palette features four light-textured, buildable shades to highlight, define and intensify — all in a limited-edition compact design.”

This Black Friday exclusive warm-toned quad consists of four matte colors, three of which are various shades of beige and one is a rusty, brick red. The formula is soft and smooth; and if you tried Chanel mattes before, then you are probably familiar with the way they kick off dust in the pan slightly. The first time I noticed this, I was worried that it might be a problematic sign, but the formula actually doesn’t create any fallout on the eyes – each color ‘sticks’ to the skin well enough, with and without primer.

The pigmentation is a solid medium in one swipe, and the intensity can be easily built up to full without the cakey texture. Because they are so finely milled, Chanel mattes are especially easy to blend, so even a total beginner can create a perfectly diffused makeup look.

The compact itself features a slightly different design – instead of the usual white-colored double C, the logo comes in wine red, which is kind of reminiscent of the Limited Edition Chanel No.5 that was released just a few weeks ago.

To sum it up, I think Chanel Les 4 Ombres Legerete et Experience could be a lovely holiday treat for yourself of a special someone, especially if large 10-, 14-, 18-pan compacts are just not your thing. It’s true that some popular warm palettes offer more bang for the buck, but whenever I find myself favoring 3-4 colors and rarely reaching for others, then maybe it would have been worth it to just buy something smaller and more indulgent instead. That’s the way my mind works lately, I try to focus more on product quality and realistically determine what I need without sacrificing what I love. After all, the best makeup is the makeup I actually use, and everything else is a waste of my money. Let me know if you feel the same way!
