Birchbox June 2016 | Everyday Magic

Oh man, why is 2016 going so fast? It feels like I just reviewed the January box and all of a sudden we’re halfway through the year. I guess it’s true what they say about time flying fast when you’re having fun, but I wish it was the other way around, hehe 🙂 Birchbox June 2016 box has super pretty geometric design, definitely worthy of hoarding as a keepsake! As for the products inside, well, see for yourselves. Maybe I’m just not feeling it lately, but I just wasn’t really into my monthly samples this time.

CONTENTS:

1 // ARDENCY INN MODSTER Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner [$20, available here] has perhaps one of the creamiest, most pigmented and long-lasting formulas I’ve seen in a pencil eyeliner in a long time. It is perhaps a bit too intense for me, because lately I prefer to use matte eyeshadow to line my eyes with, but it’s really amazing as a tightliner. FYI I don’t waterline because it actually makes my eyes look smaller, but on most people it is a very flattering look.

2 // Etat Libre d’Orange Fat Electrician [$59, available here] is the second fragrance I got to try from this quirky and eccentric company, adored by Tilda Swinton and other Hollywood A-listers. Interesting name choice aside, this is a surprisingly wearable summery bouquet that includes notes of Haitian vetiver, chestnut cream, and olive leaves.

3 // PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing & Repairing Shampoo [$22, available here] came in a generously-sized tube, and the description actually makes it sound very promising. This shampoo is great for color-treated hair, and for everyone else who likes gentle haircare products. Scented with the brand’s signature blend of peach, freshly cut grass, and white woods, this sulfate-free and paraben-free formula is a good option for a daily shampoo that won’t strip the hair of its essential moisture.

4 // COOLA Classic Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea [$32, available here] is the sample I was perhaps the most interested in. I go through so much sunscreen that I’m always happy to get even the tiniest samples in my beauty boxes. COOLA is actually one of my favorite sun care brands, and their formulas are very clean, too, so it’s not like I’m putting a ton of harmful chemicals on my skin.

5 // Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel [$24, available here] was my sample choice this month, since I’m a huge fan of the original Gimme Brow. This one is just as great, if not better, and makes my brows look naturally fuller and well-groomed without venturing into the Instagram #browsonfleek territory [nothing wrong with IG brows, they’re just not my style].

BOTTOM LINE:

I have mixed feelings about Birchbox June 2016 box. When I look at the individual thoughts about each product, it seems like the selection was great. But when I see these products in front of me, for some reason I don’t feel any joy or excitement. Could it be that I am currently sampled out? Maybe, maybe not, but I just find it hard to be over the moon with anything this time. However, I want to specifically point out the new Gimme Brow gel, which is hands down amazing and one of the best brow products I’ve ever tried. It’s also super easy to use even for makeup beginners, making the whole brow grooming routine quick and easy. If any of you are looking for a new brow product, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Have you tried any of the products above? Do you love or hate getting black eyeliners in your beauty boxes? What is your go-to brow product these days? Let me know in the comments below!

There’s a perfume named “Fat Electrician”? *giggle* I wonder what the story behind that name is! I love the original Gimme Brow. Good to hear the new version is just as good.

I took the other box this month & I liked what I got. I like what you got too. But I hear ya about being sampled out. I get 3 monthly boxes now & it is just too much. I won’t reup with Birchbox when my subscription is up

It’s hard for me to get excited about subscriptions too but there are several items in your box that make it worthwhile (Benefit, Ardency Inn although it’s black).

I think I would have been the most excited about the Coola too. I have been wanting to try their new BB cream.
