Bestowed Box August 2014 Review, Pictures

Due to some shipping issues, I received my August Bestowed Box late, so I was only able to post my review now, in September. In August, Heather Bauer prepared a special Back to School box, curated with on-the-go lifestyles in mind. As you can see, the box was loaded this month, so I will try to be brief with my mini-reviews, as there are a lot of products to cover.

Funley’s Super Crackers Cheddar N’ Stuff – Funley’s crackers are a delicious and surprisingly healthy snack. They are made with 100% natural ingredients, and don’t contain trans fats, preservatives, and corn syrup.

As a big time cheese lover, I really liked these cheddar crackers. They had a rich cheddar flavor, and that signature deep orange color. I enjoyed every bite!

Funley’s Super Crackers Cornbread N’ Stuff  – I normally don’t like cornbread, so I didn’t care for these, but I could tell they were very fresh and had a nice airy crunch to them.

They taste like crunchy cornbread tops to me, so if you like those, you’d like these crackers, too. And each little cracker has a funny face printed on it, so kids will love them.

Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Chips Hot & Spicy – Ocean’s Halo is a company with a cause. They not only create yummy healthy snacks, but they also donate 2% of all their proceeds to Children’s Education Fund.

I expected these chips to be very fine and thin, like other seaweed chips I tried. Instead, they were thick, crunchy, and bursting with flavor! I have a hard time tolerating very spicy foods, but the amount of heat was just perfect in these. I think if I saw them at my local store, I’d probably buy some more.

Orgain Kids Nutritional Shake – Developed by a doctor, these shakes are loaded with fruits and veggies, and contain contain 23 vitamins and minerals, essential for a healthy lifestyle.

Normally, I think those soy shakes are kind of yucky, but this one was surprisingly delicious and tasted almost like chocolate milk. I think it’s best to drink it chilled.

Plum Organics Mashups – When the ingredient list is short and readable, with not a single chemical in sight, I know it’s probably good for me. This berry puree doesn’t even contain preservatives!

If I could live off these pouches I would! The kid in me always thinks it’s some kind of space food; you know how they have everything in tubes over there? 🙂 Love this mess-proof packaging, it’s the only liquid/mushy snack I would consider carrying around in my purse.

Good Greens Bar – At first I thought this was just another protein bar, which would have been fine with me, but as soon as I read the description, I realized that it’s in fact a very unique product.

These vegan bars are made with organic ingredients, and contain helpful DHA Omega 3 fatty acids and probiotics. If that wasn’t enough, each bar contains 100% of the daily recommended amount of fruits and veggies, so this snack is not only satisfying, it’s also very healthy and nutritious! Yep, all of those servings packed into one snack bar. pretty cool, isn’t it?

Peeled Snacks Apple Clusters – Each pouch contains a handful of minced dehydrated apples, shaped into bite-sized balls. They tasted too bland for my liking, because I prefer my dried apples with at least some extra flavoring, like lemon or cinnamon.

Even though I didn’t care for these, I still finished the entire pack, because it equals to one full serving of fruit. Those daily healthies are important! 🙂

Mrs Meyer’s Clean Day Dish Soap Lemon Verbena – I already use and love Mrs. Meyer’s products in my house, but I never tried their dish soap [I use Seventh Generation], so it will be a great sample to try.

I like the size, too, it’s large enough to give me a good idea about its cleaning properties. Since I adore lemony scents, Bestowed hit it out of the ballpark with this one.

Water Jel Unburn Sunburn Relief – Very appropriate for the end of Summer, when many people tan for too long, trying to catch every last bit of sunlight, which often results in unwanted burns.

This local analgesic contains lidocaine to pull the heat away from the skin, and provide cooling relief. It’s not something I would use, but I have some hardcore tanners in my family who could use something like this.

… and lots of coupons! – We received several high value coupons, two of which were valid for a full-sized product purchase. Those coupons were for a free cup of Maia Yogurt, and a 16oz bottle of Suja juice. I don’t know if my stores have that brand of yogurt, but I’m pretty sure I saw Suja around in one of those refrigerated smoothie stands. Other two coupons were for $1 off a box of Funley’s crackers, and $1 off 3oz bag of Halo Swaweed chips. Pretty good coupons, actually, and if I have the opportunity, I’ll redeem them all.

THE VERDICT
I’m writing this before I calculate the final box value, because no matter what the final RV is going to be, I think this box was an absolute winner in my book. In fact, this might have been one of the best Bestowed boxes I have ever received! I loved all of the snacks, and even shared some with my husband, who also enjoyed these healthy munchies. Faves? Hard to tell, but probably Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap, Halo chips, and Cheddar Funley’s crackers.
