You guys know I’ve been a big advocate for daily sunscreen use ever since this blog launched, and for a longer time before that. However, even though by now we all know the risks associated with unprotected sun exposure, only 1/3 of women actually wear sunscreen every day according to a recent statistic. The main reason? They hate how sticky, heavy, and greasy sunscreens can be.
I don’t blame anyone who feels that way, it would be infinitely annoying to deal with formulations like that. I’ve experienced my fair share of icky sunscreens while searching for the ones I can tolerate and enjoy. Naturally, those products were developed to protect us from the sun – and I bet a lot of them deliver on that promise – but it’s important to also make sure they are comfortable to wear. After all, the best sunscreen is the one you will actually use.
One particular sunscreen from Olay has been on my mind a lot lately. I think this budget-friendly brand offers good value for the money, and I really like their moisturizers, so I was happy to discover Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer SPF15.
For outdoor activities I usually wear between SPF30 and SPF50. For day to day and if I am working indoors, I reach for products with lower SPF values since I tend to stay in the inner rooms that don’t see a lot of sunlight, while still making sure my skin stays protected.
In my experience SPF15 is the perfect number for wearing at home or for quick errands outside, but Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer SPF15 is more than just a sunscreen. It’s an oil-free, lightweight, antioxidant-packed moisturizer that delivers lasting hydration, leaving the skin looking smoother immediately after the application.
The bottle is large enough to last all summer, even if I apply the product several times a day to my face and neck. I really like how quickly it absorbs into the skin: runny, milky texture is ideal for combination and oily skin types.
Like I said in the beginning, to me texture is everything. The sunscreen can have the best ingredients, but ultimately if I don’t like the way it feels, I will keep finding reasons not to wear it. Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer SPF15 feels great on the skin, and the formula is loaded with beneficial ingredients to protect, moisturize, and nourish without the heavy, sticky feel or pasty appearance.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly sunscreen for summer with moderate SPF protection to wear indoors, I highly recommend giving Olay a try. Even my husband, who hates using a lot of different skincare products, is now a fan of this one. We both have oilier skin types, but Olay Complete All-Day Moisturizer SPF15 helps keep the skin look more balanced and protects it from free radical damage despite the hot weather and humidity.
