Beauty Must-Haves and Products You Can’t Live Without

I was recently asked about my all-time favorite products, whether it’s makeup or skincare, and I really hesitated to answer because I just didn’t feel like any of them are irreplaceable. There are so many great brands, so it’s very hard for me to be loyal to specific items. However, after careful re-evaluation of my stash, I came to the conclusion that there is in fact one product I’d be really sad to see discontinued.

Does your skin ever get those mild irritations, when it just gets bumpy? Not the red acne or pre-acne bumps or rashes, I’m talking about that goosebump-looking texture that lasts several days or even weeks if left untreated. I usually get that after I over-exfoliate [guilty!] or if I use products with harsh ingredients.

There’s only one SOS treatment that calms my skin and immediately smooths the surface after just one application. I’m serious, 15-20 minutes is all it takes to return my skin back to normal, and that wonder product is Exuviance Rejuvenating Treatment Masque ($39 for 2.5oz.), loaded with Alpha and Polyhydroxy acids. It’s a non-drying peel-off mask, that makes the skin look tighter, smoother, brighter and cleaner, and the effect is instant. I re-purchased it three or four times now, and will purchase it again for as long as the company continues making it. Other than this product, I really can’t think of any other ones, makeup or skincare, that I couldn’t find replacements for.

So what about you, ladies, is there anything in your stash you would hate to see discontinued?

I definitely have a few Holy Grail products I can’t live without! I haven’t felt that way about much skincare lately though – Hopefully soon!

    • March 5, 2014 / 7:47 pm

Indeed, it’s definitely much harder to find HG skincare, because the testing takes a long time. I hope you find your perfect products!

Oooooohhh this sounds awesome. I think I must try! I have a fee holy grail skincare items one being Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Something about that brown bottle makes my skin so much better.

I will be super sad if Absolute Makeup Remover Wipes are ever discontinued. I buy them in bulk from TJMaxx everytime I”m there haha

    • March 5, 2014 / 7:53 pm

I know those, they come in a green baggie, right? I really like them and always buy a box whenever I go to TJ Maxx ๐Ÿ™‚

I would hate to see my Supergoop Save Face AM moisturizer discontinued.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:01 pm

I haven’t tried that one yet, but I love Supergoop City Sunscreen Serum and their eye cream ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. March 4, 2014 / 2:34 pm

I was JUST thinking about this! Clinique had a powder blush in a tube that has a application brush in it too that is so convenient on the go and they discontinued it a few years ago. I still have two of them but I wish they’d bring them back.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:02 pm

Oh bummer! I remember seeing those blushes and thinking how cool they look, but I never owned one myself. It’s nice that you have two more of them still.

  7. March 4, 2014 / 4:45 pm

I guess I’m not that picky.. I’ll try lots of different products! I have recently misplaced my Ellis Faas Ellis Red lippie, though, and I’m seriously considering buying a replacement, even though I have a TON of red lippies. I’m seriously jonesing.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:03 pm

Exactly! I’m just like you, Nidia, I also love trying lots of products and don’t stick to anything because there’s always something better. However, this mask works better than anything else I tried, and I sample so much skincare it’s not even funny ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t leave home without my under eye concealer so I know how you feel about this.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:11 pm

I hope your favorite concealer never gets discontinued ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. March 4, 2014 / 6:07 pm

I don’t think I could live without my Neutrogena Gentle Face Wash! It has become my Holy Grail!

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:15 pm

Nice! I like that cleanser too ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. March 4, 2014 / 7:07 pm

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is my go to spot treatment. Can’t be without it. Also love the Mint Julep Mask from Queen Helene.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:16 pm

My husband loves Drying Lotion too, nothing works better for him as far as spot treatment goes.

  11. March 4, 2014 / 8:56 pm

IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. I’ll probably go on a rampage if it’s ever discontinued.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:16 pm

That foundation is fabulous! I’m seriously convinced that IT Cosmetics can’t do wrong with anything.

  12. March 4, 2014 / 9:28 pm

If the Neutrogena Makeup Wipes were ever discontinued I’d die!

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:17 pm

I tried those wipes, and although they’re really effective at removing makeup, they sting my face quite a bit. I know it’s just me, because everybody else seems to love them.

  13. March 5, 2014 / 12:25 am

It looks like a great mask! MDSolarSciences tinted mineral screen is a must-have for me.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:18 pm

Never tried that sunscreen, in fact, I’ve never even heard of it! You made me want to try it, because I’m big on SPF and complexion products ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. March 5, 2014 / 9:04 am

I would not know what to do without DHC Cleansing Oil.

    • March 5, 2014 / 8:19 pm

Oh yes, that one is fantastic! I tried comparing it to Shu Uemura cleansing oil, and I think it actually works better ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. March 6, 2014 / 2:28 am

My newest hg product is Embryolisse’s Radiant Eye

    • March 6, 2014 / 7:49 pm

Ooh, I would love to find out more about that one, since I’m obsessed with skincare.

  16. March 6, 2014 / 5:49 pm

I love Clinique 7 day scrub cream. I use it every other day to exfoliate and it does not irritate my sensitive skin. It was a skin care game changer for me. There may be better scrubs out there but the few I’ve tried can’t compare!

    • March 6, 2014 / 7:53 pm

If your skin loves it, then it’s definitely the best! Just because it’s not someone else’s must have, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be yours ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. March 6, 2014 / 7:29 pm

Oh, I received a few tubes of this back when Blush was Beautyfix. I’ve managed to make them last a while but I will so re purchase when I run out. This mask is amazing and I agree with your review, it tightens, minimizes pores, reduces redness, and gives my skin a nice glow.

    • March 6, 2014 / 7:54 pm

I know right? This mask is seriously amazing, I just can’t think of any other single product that delivers the same results instantly. Btw, I originally discovered this one via BeautyFix too ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. March 6, 2014 / 8:54 pm

I think the one product I would hate to have discontinued would be sunscreen. Ok, so that is a category, not a product, but it’s my lifeline.

    • March 7, 2014 / 9:13 am

Oh yes, I’m with you on this one. If all sunscreens suddenly disappeared I don’t think I’d ever go outside LOL

  19. March 22, 2014 / 9:51 pm

I have this mask and have never tried it. I’m glad to read that it is effective. Some products that I would be really sad if they discontinued: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (it is the most gentle exfoliant I’ve ever used that is still effective), Tarte LipSurgence (although I probably have enough to last the rest of my life), and Mario Badescu Drying Cream (zaps blemishes quickly with no side effects), Poshe top coat (super quick-drying, glossy, and doesn’t shrink my polish).

    • March 23, 2014 / 3:28 pm

I heard so many great things about Poshe top coat, do you know by any chance how it compares to Seche Vite?
