Beauty Box by Target March 2014 Review, Pictures

After a long 10 month break Target finally decided to sell another batch of their famous beauty boxes. This time it included five products, two of which were full-sized, and the rest came in very generous travel-sized format. As always, this box cost only $5, but this time those of us who don’t have their rewards card had to pay another $5 for shipping, which was later refunded back to the original card used for the initial purchase. I was honestly prepared to pay $10 for it, so I would have been totally fine even if they didn’t refund it.

HOW IT WORKS
Beauty Box by Target is different from a typical subscription service, because the boxes are sold on a first come first serve basis. These boxes are released irregularly, and usually cost $5 + free S&H. The products are generally a mix of full-sized and deluxe-sized drugstore brands.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara – A few weeks ago I was sharing my Mom’s favorite makeup items, and this mascara is one of them! I just love the way it makes her lashes so long and defined. As much as I would love to keep it for myself, I’m sure she will appreciate it if I pass it on to her πŸ™‚

COVERGIRL Smoochies Sizzle Gloss – Nice size and color, but way too much shimmer for my liking. This will make a great stocking stuffer!

TONI&GUY Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray –  Normally I don’t use texturizing sprays because they make my hair super dry and hay-like, but one of my friends highly recommended this one when I told her about Target Beauty Box, so I’m going to give it a shot. What about you girls, have you tried it?

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo – This is a generous travel-sized sample, and it seems like a nice one! This dry shampoo uses natural tapioca powder to absorb excess oil and the formula infused with white grapefruit and mint extracts doesn’t contain any parabens or colorants. Doesn’t that sound intriguing?

Jergens BB Cream Light – Last but not least, everyone received a sample of this new hit product from Jergens, and I already raved about it in my latest Birchbox review. You know me, I’m super against tanning, even fake tanning, but I made an exception for this body BB cream, because it made my skin look and feel amazing.

THE VERDICT
I’m always impressed with Target Beauty Boxes, wouldn’t you agree that all of this is a steal for $5? It’s like paying $1 for each one of these products! The box itself has no markings, so it can be re-used for gifting. I hope Target starts releasing these regularly because it provides a great opportunity for everyone to try some of the best drugstore products without having to buy full-sized versions.

What did you think of Target Beauty Box? Will you purchase the next one?

That is a steal for $5!!!

I’m not a big fan of texturizing products either, but I LOVE the Toni & Guy sea salt spray! I have wavy/curly hair, and it does a great job of really adding texture without making my hair too dry. But I also make sure to use Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner to add back in any moisture and softness the sea salt may have taken out.

I’m so glad to hear that you like this one, I seriously hate the way most texturizing products make my hair feel. This one is definitely different.

Yeah, I wish they made an effort to promote it, but it was basically announced on Facebook, which was the only way I even knew about it. Definitely a steal!

    I’m glad I skipped it.

    • March 28, 2014 / 11:36 am

Maybe one day Target will curate a cruelty-free box, now that would be great! πŸ™‚

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:35 am

So glad that you loved it too, and I agree, for $5 it was a total steal πŸ˜€

  12. March 26, 2014 / 3:56 pm

what a great deal fro $5! but this box doesn’t really have anything in it that i’d want or use.

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:37 am

I can see how this would not be very interesting, if there’s nothing that you’d want to use. Maybe next time they will include products that will strike your fancy πŸ˜‰

  13. March 26, 2014 / 4:54 pm

It is a nice mix of things if that’s what you’re into, but I am only here for the makeup lol

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:42 am

Haha, indeed! For makeup loves there’s a full-sized tube of mascara πŸ˜‰

  14. March 26, 2014 / 5:45 pm

I totally bought this too ! I am so excited about the dry shampoo and the sea salt hair spray and the mascara is a good one !

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:44 am

This is such a great deal! So glad you got one of these boxes, too πŸ˜€

  15. March 26, 2014 / 6:28 pm

I had no idea they sold these boxes! Love this selection.

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:47 am

Target has been offering these for a few years, but they are really bad at promoting them. Usually they just drop a line on Facebook with a link and that’s it.

    • March 29, 2014 / 9:48 am

I agree, Kimmi, it’s really nice of them to offer these πŸ™‚ And they throw in some beauty coupons too!

  16. March 26, 2014 / 8:25 pm

I didn’t like the texturizing spray πŸ™ I’m like you, it made my hair feel like hay. The dry shampoo is pretty great though! I got clear lip gloss and am a huge fan because it smells like the pineapple lifesaver candy πŸ™‚ So worth $5

    • March 29, 2014 / 10:04 am

Ahh, so jealous of your clear gloss, I would have loved it πŸ™‚

  17. March 26, 2014 / 9:32 pm

This was SUCH a great box. Can’t wait to see what they put in next year’s!

    • March 29, 2014 / 10:04 am

I sure hope the next one will come out this year. Target needs to make these come out regularly, like once a season or something.

  18. March 26, 2014 / 11:02 pm

You got some great stuff! I’ll need to grab the next one!

    • March 29, 2014 / 10:06 am

It’s a great deal for sure, I hope you catch it next time the deal goes live πŸ™‚

  19. March 27, 2014 / 12:07 am

Wow, all these for five bucks?!!How do I catch this irregular subscription?

    • March 29, 2014 / 10:01 am

Target is terrible at announcing these, I think the only way to find out is to follow them on Facebook and hope you catch it in time. I posted about this deal the day a few hours after it went live.

  20. March 27, 2014 / 9:38 pm

I think it’s pretty cool that Target jumped on the beauty box band-wagon. Looks like there is some good deals to be had here.

  21. March 30, 2014 / 4:37 pm

The mascara and lip gloss made this box worth it πŸ™‚

    • April 1, 2014 / 7:26 pm

Just mascara alone is already worth it πŸ™‚

  22. April 6, 2014 / 4:27 pm

I am excited to see the herbal essence dry shampoo. I use the herbal essence conditioning cleanser, but need a dry shampoo for day two. πŸ™‚ I love the smell of this stuff.
