Out with the old, in with the new! In March Beauty Box 5 suggests we do some spring cleaning, and I plan to do just that very soon. I recently raided my lip stash and collected all old lipsticks and glosses that haven’t been used for years, so I’m planning a post showing you all of that junk before I toss them for good. For now, let’s see what BB5 has in store for us!

HOW IT WORKS
For $12/month subscribers will receive a box filled with a carefully selected mixture of five travel-sized, deluxe-sized and full-sized cosmetic products from luxury, commonly known brands, niche brands, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Aimed at introducing women to new cosmetic products and educating them on best practices, Beauty Box 5 scours the market to find the best products for your lifestyle.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup Base – This little jar looks like a concealer, but it’s so much more than that. This multitasking paste works also as a base for eye shadows, or even a matte highlighter to brighten up certain areas on your face. I say base and not a primer, because I believe you will still need a primer underneath, since it tends to crease after 5 hours.

Tree Hut Shea Body Butter – Tree Hut is awesome, especially their mango line, and in this month’s box I received their coconut body butter. I like the smell of coconuts, so this jar is now sitting on my desk reminding me to moisturize my dry elbows every few hours without leaving the workspace 🙂

H2O Plus SPA Hand & Nail Cream – A pretty good hand cream that moisturized my hands and cuticles well, and I also didn’t feel the need to reapply often, which is a good sign. It has a light smell to it, that’s not too offensive even for people sensitive to scents, but H2O+ makes an unscented version too.

Jane’s Pick All Natural Soap – You know my love for solid soaps, and I’m always curious to try new brands, especially indie ones. In this box I received a sample of Jane’s Pick Kind soap, which is scented with tangerine, orange and vanilla. The smell is very invigorating, and perfect to help me wake up in the morning!

Swissco Dual-sided Facial Pad – I normally use a powered brush, but this pad is as close as it gets to get similar results without buying an expensive device. One side is more abrasive for stronger exfoliation, while the other side is nice and soft, suitable for daily use.

THE VERDICT
I thought the March Beauty Box 5 was very fun and well-rounded, with products for face, body, hands and even makeup, and it definitely follows the spring cleaning theme. My favorite products this month were Tree Hut body butter and H2O+ hand cream, both of which are sitting on my desk right now.

I would be disappointed that the makeup base creases

    • March 21, 2014 / 10:04 am

Exactly, maybe it’s just me though, because other BB5 reviewers were raving about it (or at least didn’t mention any cons).

    • March 21, 2014 / 10:09 am

      It’s a great drugstore brand 🙂

I loved this month’s box, too. I got a different Tree Hut product – a coconut lime hand lotion. I thought the makeup base was kinda cool and different – I’ve never seen anything like it, and I’m not sure if I used it right! I got a Spa H20 in Lotus something… soo good. Even my husband wanted to know what it was. Great review!

    • March 21, 2014 / 10:34 am

Glad you liked your box! You know a product is worth it when your husband/SO notices it haha 🙂

    • March 21, 2014 / 10:36 am

I hope you like it more than I did, I ended up going back to my usual primers 🙂

    • March 21, 2014 / 11:18 am

Agreed, this is one of their best boxes in a while 🙂

  8. March 20, 2014 / 4:53 am

I personally would be unhappy with this box because of all the body products. Body is my least favourite section to look after.

    • March 21, 2014 / 11:20 am

Sorry to hear that you dislike body products, but I’m sure there is a perfect one for you waiting to be discovered 🙂

  9. March 20, 2014 / 7:34 am

It was a pretty good month for BB5! I love the feel of the H2O hand cream, but mine smells SO strong. Not good strong either, like an old lady bathed in floral perfume strong lol…

    • March 21, 2014 / 11:21 am

Oh wow, that doesn’t sound pleasant at all. Mine smells fine, I actually really like the fragrance, it’s light and fresh, and not overpowering.

  10. March 20, 2014 / 7:45 am

normally I hate so much skincare but all of it was so awesome that I was happy! I loveddddd that soap!
