New Year, New Concept! Or at least that’s what I’d like to think about my Beauty Box 5 January 2016 box, because this time it contained six products instead of the usual five, and the theme was very different from the others. In January Beauty Box 5 reminds us to take better care of our hair and nails with products specifically tailored to get our tips and toes in tip-top shape 😉
HOW IT WORKS: For $12/month subscribers will receive a box filled with a carefully selected mixture of five travel-sized, deluxe-sized and full-sized cosmetic products from luxury brands, commonly known brands, niche brands, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Aimed at introducing women to new cosmetic products and educating them on best practices, Beauty Box 5 scours the market to find the best products for your lifestyle. Click here to subscribe.
Since I haven’t actually tried everything yet, I will just go down the line in the order the products are listed on the insert card. The first one is Bodipure Keratin Gloves, and I am really loving the idea! Paraffin treatments for hands and nails are really popular, but I never heard about the keratin ones. The package says to remove any nail polish, file, and wash your hands, then simply slip on the gloves and relax for a while. I look forward to trying it!
Next product is Nails Inc Nail Polish in Sloane Mews, a very trendy dark eggplant creme. Nails Inc formulas can be a hit or a miss, but usually their darker colors wear well on me. What’s your experience with Nails Inc polishes been like? I also want to mention that Nails Inc revamped their packaging, and the bottles now feature square shape. However, they also cost considerably more than the old packaging.
I already reviewed SCRATCH Custom Accent Nail Wraps on the blog before, but I certainly welcome another sampler that I can use for accentuating a couple nails to spice up the look. These designs are different from the ones I’ve tried, and I like them more, too!
Novex Bamboo Sprout Deep Conditioning Treatment is said to work in just three minutes to deliver the best hair day ever. It fortifies the follicles, making them thicker, shinier, less frizzy, and a whole lot more manageable. Anything that can give my strands that shiny salon look is a winner in my book.
Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter is another example of a hair product description that gets me all excited. It can be so hard to lift the roots on my fine hair without making it all stiff and crunchy, so I have high hopes for this spray. It also smells totally heavenly: if you like tropical scents [think mango, coconut, kiwi] in your beauty products, this is it!
Lastly, Salon Grafix Freezing Hair Spray is supposed to give my hairdos the strongest hold. I am a bit iffy about maximum hold hair styling products, because I like my hair to move freely without the crunch. This one might be going to my Mom who loves to use products like this on her roots.
THE VERDICT: Quite a hair & nails-centric box, isn’t it? I’m okay with that, after all I get plenty of skincare samples in my other subscriptions and I tend to neglect my hair and nails sometimes. I agree with the statement on the info card that says “You can get away with almost anything if your hair is styled and your nails are on point”. I would add filled in brows to that, because sometimes it’s all I need to make me feel put together.

I’ve used that NYM Thickening Spray before and I really like it! It definitely does a good job of adding some volume to your roots and it’s really affordable.
I love products that perform well and are budget-friendly. I tried it a few times so far and the results are great!
