Beauty Box 5 February 2014 – packed full!
Rockstar Nails Duo in Teal
Every Beauty Makeup Remover Pads with Argan Oil Extract
Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara
Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara – the wand
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo & Conditioner

Rockstar Nails Duo in Teal – What a fun duo! The packaging with cute bows reminds me of Ciate, which I always thought was very pretty. I’m loving this fun teal color and looking forward to trying it in action. As always, swatches will be posted in a few days in a separate post.

Every Beauty Makeup Remover Pads with Argan Oil Extract – These wipes will never dry out on you, because they’re dry to begin with. You use them by getting them wet and then gently wiping your face to remove all traces of dirt and makeup. I liked the feeling of petal-fresh skin afterward!

Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara – I think I tried a sample of this mascara before and wasn’t too crazy about it. My lashes are naturally fine, sparse and stick straight so I always look for multi-tasking formulas that will hold curl as well as lengthen and add volume, however, this mascara doesn’t seem to work that well for me. I’m thinking it’s just my problem, because many fellow bloggers are raving about it. In my case, all it does is coats my lashes in black, adding minimal length, no volume, and not holding the curl. Check out the swatches below to see before and afters.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo & Conditioner – I remember when I first started using John Frieda products several years ago, and their line for red hair was amazing! Since then, I expanded into Frizz Ease line as well as their styling products. I think it’s one of my favorite drugstore hair care brands, and I’m excited to try this new line, because it’s designed for my type of hair – fine and color-treated.

THE VERDICT
I think this was a great box, and well-rounded as usual. We received one makeup product, one nail duo, hair care and skin care, as well as a discount code for an online accessory store. I wasn’t crazy about the mascara, but everything else will be used, and I especially look forward to playing with those nail polish sprinkles. Yesterday I posted a spoiler for March boxes, and I’m stoked! That product is supposed to make your shimmery eye shadows look more matte, among all other things it can do 🙂

On a personal note, I’ve been sucked into the juicing craze that everyone seems to be doing lately. Okay, maybe not everyone, but they sure make it sound like that on TV! Yeah, I know, I’m totally weak to marketing plots, but ever since I read that Juice Generation book, I’ve been very curious about this whole juicing movement. Tell you what, I’m not treating it like a diet, but rather as a way for me to make sure I get those 5 servings of fruits and vegetables one way or another. I’m not trying to substitute any meals with juices and smoothies, instead I’m adding them to my existing meals to make them more nutritious. What about you ladies, have you tried the infamous juicing diet?

I think everyone got those makeup removing pads but me! I got an Aveeno body wash. Between that and the shampoo sample that is totally wrong for my thick, non-color treated hair, it was a little bit of a let down! I am looking forward to trying the mascara, though. I’ve never tried one of those hourglass brushes before.

Oh bummer about the shampoo! Sometimes I get products for curly hair, and mine is stick-straight 🙂

Love those nail polish colors 🙂 I’m quite partial to blues.

  3. February 19, 2014 / 11:31 am

I was pretty happy with this box too! I was thrilled to try out the whole “caviar mani” deal!

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:48 am

That duo is pretty fun isn’t it? Totally impractical, but pretty 🙂

I had trouble with this box because the 14.99 full size Polish is sneaky. 14.99 is what you would pay for the set of four.

Thank you for bringing this up to my attention Angie. I corrected the values, as I always try to be accurate with my breakdowns.

A caviar mani sounds so fun!

I loved the balance of this box– a little bit of everything! Interesting product breakdown, why did you put the nail duo at less than $4? Each bottle is reported to cost $15, they are full size.

Good to know you like it, I feel like I’m the only one that didn’t 🙂

I like the nail lacquers. If I haven’t mentioned it yet, I adore your crisp photography skills!

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:52 am

Thank you Kath, you are too kind 🙂

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:55 am

I thought the same thing, Pam. This is the only color I was really hoping to receive.

  9. February 19, 2014 / 10:00 pm

I have been meaning to try juicing. I second Kath with your photo skills. I wish I could take photos like that of my eyes. My camera fights me every time.

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:56 am

Thank you Laura, you are too kind 🙂 I actually take a photo of my entire face and then crop the eyes out, because if I try to take pictures of just my eyes alone, the coloring always seems to be off.

  10. February 19, 2014 / 11:10 pm

Okay box this month. I’ve tried that mascara before and I think you got better results than I have. I’m also loving juicing!

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:59 am

I was actually not too impressed with the results. It may look like it added length to my lashes, but all it did was coat them in black and stick them together >_>

  11. February 19, 2014 / 11:36 pm

I do like how you do your lash before and after photos

    • February 20, 2014 / 8:59 am

Thank you Phyrra, I thought this was the best way to show the effect.

  12. February 20, 2014 / 12:40 am

As I mentioned on other blogs those nail polish are gorgeous 🙂

  13. February 20, 2014 / 2:36 am

I’ve seen a lot of posts on Elizabeth Mott mascara but I’ve never tried it. I think it does nice things for your lashes!

    • February 20, 2014 / 9:00 am

Thank you Justina. While it does seem to do “something” for my lashes, I feel like it’s actually doing a lot less than other mascaras. I personally would not recommend it.

  14. February 20, 2014 / 1:17 pm

im becoming more and more curious about this box

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:38 pm

I like the companies BB5 works with, it’s worth a shot if you’re interested in sampling their products 🙂

After Ipsy I think I like this box the most.
