Regular exfoliation is as important as daily cleansing and moisturizing, and crucial if you use self-tanning products. Smoother skin ensures that the tanner goes on more evenly, preventing streaks and patches. One of the companies known for their fabulous self-tanning products – Beautisol – released this fabulous Exscrub Me? facial exfoliant to help achieve a flawless glow.

BRAND OVERVIEW

Beautisol was founded by a fellow beauty blogger Sinead Norenius from SelfTanningQueen, and as the name suggests, that blog was dedicated to anything and everything tan related. Beautisol provides high quality and environmentally conscious sun care products with personality! Their products provide alternatives to the sun for a safe and natural sun-kissed glow, treatments to reverse the effects of sun damage, and protection to help shield you from the dangerous UV rays.”

Exscrub Me? was developed by Beautisol to prepare the face for applying self-tanner, but it can also be used as a standalone exfoliating treatment. This paraben-free citrus formula contains organic glycerin, organic orange peel extract, and jojoba beads to effectively clear out the pores from dead cells and dirt debris that might be clogging them.

I’ve been using this scrub for about 2 weeks now and I can feel my skin being smoother and cleaner than before, it’s like every pore is breathing freely. Cleaner pores also ensure that my other skincare products absorb more effectively. Now if I used self-tanners, I’d probably be delighted with the difference smooth skin makes when it comes to getting that bronzy glow.

I would not recommend using Exscrub Me? if you have very sensitive skin, because despite being so fine, those small exfoliating granules are quite abrasive and may make your face look red and irritated.

One negative thing I have to mention – the beads are made with Polyethylene, and were recently proven to be harmful to the environment [they even get in our drinking water, because the filtration systems can’t filter those], so in the future this scrub will probably be reformulated. You can read more about this issue if you search for “ban on plastic microbeads”; here’s a link to one of the articles that come up.

You can check out Beautisol on FacebookTwitterPinterestInstagram and YouTube.

THE VERDICT
Beautisol Exscrub Me? proved to be an effective facial exfoliator that provides microdermabrasion-like properties. After two weeks of use my skin felt smooth and even, and had a healthy glow to it, however, I wouldn’t recommend this scrub for people with sensitive skin, because it’s quite abrasive. It’s important to know that the formula contains plastic microbeads, that are slowly but surely being banned in cosmetic products, based on recent findings about their negative effect on the environment.
