My Thoughts on Au Naturale Summer 2018 Collection (swatches, review)

August is my favorite part of summer, who’s with me on that? It’s not as hot as July so I can wear most of my makeup without the fear of it melting off my face by mid-afternoon, even cream formulas. With that said, I have some beautiful glowy products to share with you today, and they are clean & non-toxic, too.

Au Naturale Summer 2018 collection features warm, beachy colors that transition seamlessly into fall.

AU NATURALE SUMMER 2018:

Take a look at the latest collection from Au Naturale for Summer 2018 which includes four products:

  • Anywhere Creme Multistick in Destiny and Awaken
  • High Lustre Lip Gloss in Fortune
  • Pure Powder Highlighter in Aura

There is also an option to buy a trio bundle, which is a special value offer where you get 3 full-sized products and a cute makeup bag at a discount. The bundle includes a Multistick in your shade of choice [Destiny or Awaken], Fortune lip gloss, Aura highlighter, and a cute makeup bag. That’s a great deal if you’ve been eyeing more than one product from the summer collection.

Au Naturale Anywhere Creme Multistick in Destiny

I’ll start with my personal favorite first – Anywhere Creme Multistick in Destiny ($35). These are like the all-natural versions of NARS Multiples, and can be used on lips and cheeks. Destiny is a gorgeous shimmery peachy-coral that looks mega flattering on my fair skin with olive undertone. It gives a hint of playful warmth and a lovely sunkissed tint to the cheeks. It looks fantastic as a lip color too, and because the texture of the stick is fairly dense it actually stays on the lips and cheeks longer than creamier products of this type. It does fade slightly by the end of the day, but most of the color actually stays intact as long as I don’t touch my face needlessly.

Au Naturale High Lustre Lip Gloss in Fortune

On my lips Destiny pairs really well with High Lustre Lip Gloss in Fortune ($18), which has a nice non-sticky finish with lots of shimmer. It can work as an accent in the center of the lip to make them appear fuller, or you could wear it on its own for added warmth and shimmer. The texture is thicker than a typical lip gloss, it feels like a cream lipstick but with sheer finish. Because of that it lasts a bit longer as well; on me the wear time is roughly 3 hours before I need to re-apply. Keep in mind, the color looks deeper in the swatch than it does on the lips. When worn on its own, Fortune adds peachy-beige warmth and silvery metallic shine to the lips, that reflects the light from every direction. Your pout will really pop when it’s sunny outside!

Au Naturale Pure Powder Highlighter in Aura

Finally, I also got to try Pure Powder Highlighter in Aura ($25). To be totally honest, it felt like any other powder highlighter out there, and the color itself is nothing revolutionary. However, if you like to support smaller brands and prefer more natural and non-toxic products in general, this one is worthy of consideration. I like that it’s packaged in a pump bottle, which is pretty unique for a powder product. I pump it straight onto my highlighter brush and swipe on the high points of my face. Because it’s so finely milled, this highlighter really clings to the skin and won’t budge until you take it off with a makeup remover – oil cleansers and balms work best in my experience.

BOTTOM LINE:

My overall impression of Au Naturale Summer 2018 collection is very positive. The colors are glowing and summery, and complement each other well. The products also perform well in higher temps, even on my combination skin, but to be fair I haven’t actually tested them when it was over 90 outside. They did just fine in the mid to high 80s though, which is more than I can say about most of my other cream color products.

P.S.: Over the past year or so I’ve occasionally received emails asking to make my blog posts shorter. Sorry if I ramble too much, you guys! Sometimes longer format is unavoidable though, but I’ll try to keep the future posts a bit more to the point from now on.
