There is a new beauty brand on the horizon – ATAL Skin Solutions – that took Amazon by the storm when they released their very first product just a few months ago. Since I love discovering new brands, I jumped at the opportunity to be one of the first to experience what this emerging company has to offer. I was sent to try two currently available products: Ultimate Age Defying Serum and Velvet Eye Serum.
In their formulas, ATAL Skin Solutions aims to combine the experience of modern science and proven effectiveness of botanical extracts to create the yin-yang balance of science and nature in every bottle. They use ingredients like Matrixyl®3000 and Renovage®, which both went through rigorous clinical trials and proven to be effective many times over. For instance, Matrixyl®3000 alone has shown results of up to a 45% reduction in wrinkle depth in just 10 weeks. So far I’ve been using ATAL products for four weeks, and I already have a few things to say about both serums.
Just like any serum, Ultimate Age Defying Serum can be used either alone or under AM/PM moisturizer, depending on your skin type. During the test run, I applied two pumps to my face and neck area daily, immediately after cleansing and toning, and patted in for full absorbance, then followed up with my usual daily SPF50++ sunscreen in the morning and one of my many Korean sleeping packs in the evening. Patting in products instead of smoothing them over helps the active ingredients get into the deeper layers of the skin faster, so they actually have a chance to start working right away. When products are quickly smoothed over, they will just sit on the surface, oxidizing and losing effectiveness due to sun and air exposure.
Many anti-aging serums I’ve tried felt a little heavy, so I was surprised how lightweight this one was. I would describe the texture as a silky lotion that sinks into the skin almost right away. I certainly appreciate that ATAL doesn’t assume that everyone who is interested in anti-aging products has dry skin. For instance, my Mom is in her 50s, and she has trouble finding skin care targeted for oily aging skin; she says most of it is too rich.
Here are some of the serum’s most noteworthy ingredients:
- Peptide Matrixyl 3000 – returns elasticity and firmness to the skin
- Argireline – a non-invasive cosmetic alternative to facial injections
- Renovage – works to prolong cell life and improve cell metabolism
- Hyaluronic Acid – boosts skin’s hydration levels
- Vitamins A, B3, C & E and other antioxidants – increase skin’s immune properties, improve skin texture and appearance
Ingredients: Aqua, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, cetearyl alcohol, coco-caprylate, acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline®), caprylic/capric triglyceride and teprenone (Renovage®), palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Matrixyl®3000), niacinamide (Vitamin B3), sodium hyaluronate, xylitol, sodium ascorbyl phosphate (Vitamin C), glycerin, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), retinyl palmitate (Vitamin A), butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), aloe barbadensis (vera) leaf juice, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, boron nitride, sclerotium gum, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, potassium sorbate.
While the face serum is gentle enough to be used around the eye ares, ATAL developed Velvet Eye Serum for those who prefer to separate the products. Just like the face serum, I find it’s best used under your daily eye cream with SPF for best results – while the serum’s formula works its magic, the SPF protects the skin and helps shield active ingredients from the sun. The name is very appropriate for this product, because it has runny velvety consistency, and makes the skin feel soft and slightly powdered when it absorbs.
Main active ingredients include:
- Haloxyl® – lessens under eye dark circles by reinforcing skin firmness and tone
- Eyeliss® – helps prevent puffiness and reduce bags under the eyes
- Matrixyl®3000 – stimulates production of collagen, returning elasticity and firmness to the skin
- Swiss Apple Stem Cells – decrease wrinkles and prevent premature aging
- Licorice Root Extract – brightens skin and assists in the prevention of inflammation
- Hyaluronic Acid – draws moisture to the skin’s surface and plumps up the eye area
Ingredients: Aqua, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, coco caprylate, glycerine (vegetable), palmitoyl oligopeptide (and) palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Matrixyl® 3000), palmitoyl tripeptide-1 (and) palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Haloxyl®), hesperidin methyl chalcone (and) dipeptide-2 (and) palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Eyeliss®), malus domestica fruit (apple stem) cell culture extract, sodium hyaluronate, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), tapioca starch, cetyl alcohol, aloe barbadensis (vera) leaf juice, matricaria recutita (chamomile) flower extract, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, olea europaea (olive) leaf extract, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, potassium sorbate.
After four weeks of trial, I haven’t noticed any major reduction of my fine lines just yet [I have some on my forehead and on bottom eyelids]. Unlike brightening and anti-acne treatments, which can show first results in as little as 7 days, anti-aging skin care takes months to start working, so patience and consistency are your best friends here. I do have a few positive things to report, though. First of all, after weeks of daily use, I haven’t experienced any irritation or discomfort of any kind, and no allergic reactions. I also believe my skin feels a little firmer now, like the whole carcass is being slowly tightened somehow. I am genetically predisposed to sagging facial skin, so this is good news to me; I was really hoping that professional facial massage was not my only option.
Overall, I can’t vouch for the wrinkle-reducing properties of either, but I think I can recommend ATAL Ultimate Age Defying Serum and Velvet Eye Serum for anybody with oily or combination skin looking for lightweight products to add to their routine. It’s never too early to start prevention, and never too late to start treatment! 😉
WHERE TO BUY:

I love the sound of lightweight anti-aging. I really love the packaging on this skin care, I know it’s crazy to judge a book by its cover but this would stand out to me on a shelf!
Haha, you are so not alone in this Judy! I constantly buy products just because I liked their packaging.
I agree with Judy this packaging sells me. I am a sucker for packaging and makes me want to try something immediately. I am a skincare junkie!
Like you, Heather, I’m often swayed by pretty packaging, even if the product inside is sub-par. Luckily, these two aren’t 😉
I agree with Heather and Judy, great packaging on skincare sucks me in too.
Me too, Cindy! Sometimes I impulse buy things based on their packaging alone.
I guess I’m not the only one that lets packaging do the talking with most of what I buy! haha 🙂
For sure 🙂 I’m that way, too.
I’m glad to see that it’s not too heavy for oily/combination skin. I’ve honestly been a bit wary about using anti-aging products for that reason
I never understood why so many cosmetic companies don’t formulate anti-aging products for all skin types; I mean, we don’t all suddenly get dry and sensitive skin when we get our first lines.
Oh my gosh, I would want this purely for the packaging! Love it!
I’m with you, Chelsea, the packaging is so pretty, it makes me want to use these all the time 🙂 Good motivation!
I’m with your mom – I have old, oily skin, too. I think that’s why I love serums so much, because they’re not as moisturizing – they’re just a power punch of nutrients. Now, finding a moisturizer or eye cream, that’s harder! I love the packaging on these, too.
That’s precisely the reason why she sometimes just uses the serums and skips the moisturizers – they’re too heavy. Good anti-aging products for oily skin can be so hard to find sometimes!
Ooh… I need to try this. I love serums and anything that says… “velvet” I definitely want to try out.
Glad you mentioned the velvet part, that’s what sucked me it, too 🙂 I like that powdery velvety finish on the skin.
Need to try these! Love how affordable they are
The price point is on point 😉
I will make note of the Velvet Eye Serum. It sounds perfect for me, and I love the ingredients
I liked the eye serum, but it’s not moisturizing enough, and doesn’t have any SPF, so I always used my fave Supergoop eye cream on top.
These sound great and I love the packaging!
I really like their pretty packaging, too.
That’s my skin type! The serum looks heavenly!
I like it, too 🙂 My skin type is more combination/sensitive, but I often prefer lightweight products.
I like the sound of the eye serum!
It’s pretty nice, but definitely needs an eye cream on top.
These sound interesting, indeed. I am all about Vitamin C, Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid for my maturing skin. 😀
Nice! Those are all tried and true ingredients, can’t go wrong with them 🙂
These sounds good and I love the packaging. Simple and sleek
I really like their packaging too!
I love serums and think they are great for skin. I hadn’t heard of these before though. Good find.
Thanks, Marcia! I believe this company is brand new and they are just trying to get the word out. I think they have a bright future ahead 🙂
