Spring gets everyone in the mood for romance! Whether you’re looking for new love or to reignite the fire in your current relationship, there’s one color that can make any girl stand out from the crowd – red. I have a couple of red dresses and shoes that always gather lots of compliments, as well as lipsticks, nail polish, blush, and of course accessories that make me feel pretty when I wear them. Without further ado, here are some of my favorite red things, from lips to tips!
I was surprised at how many red nail polishes I have in my stash, honestly, because I don’t wear them as much as I probably should. It’s such a universally flattering hue, and there’s truly a shade for everyone!
My current drugstore favorites are e.l.f. Smokin Hot and essie She’s Pampered; the salon/midrange polishes I reach for most often are alessandro Red Carpet, Ricky’s NYC Rent Controlled, Zoya Carmen, and Nailtiques Moscow. It was hard to narrow down my high end picks, because I only own maybe ten of them and I love them all, but there are two I knew I had to include – Le Metier de Beaute Red Lodge and JINsoon Coquette.
The easiest way to wear red is on your lips. There are so many different formulas to choose from in all kinds of finishes: rich, glossy, and ultra-pigmented, or sheer and sweet – there’s something for everyone! Here are some of the reds that I like to wear often: NYX Butter Lip Balm Red Velvet, em pillow plush cushiony lip balm Strawberry, Besame Cosmetics Crimson Cream Rouge & Classic Color Lipstick Red Hot, Milani Lip Intense Red Extreme, Shiseido Lacquer Rouge Sanguine, Black|UP Lipstick M15, Le Metier de Beaute Signature Red, and Covergirl Succulent Cherry.
Psst! I bet you were dying to see these pretties in action, so I swatched them all for you. Enjoy!
What about accessories? I had my eyes set on CELINE Smooth Calfskin Micro Luggage in Lipstick (1), but the price tag is a bit too much to swallow right now. Another similar bag I really like is Michael Kors Colette Large Zip-Top Satchel in Chili (2), which is a whole lot more affordable.
However, I did find this lovely alternative: Baginc Goldie Medium Leather Bag (3) – Remember when Philip Lim made Pashli-inspired bags for Target? Well, this one has the same look and feel to it, but with better quality overall, if that makes sense. It’s like a Pashli for girls on a budget. It says on the website that the bag has genuine leather exterior, but I have my doubts about that. Maybe that’s just me – I’m so used to cheaper bags being made of PU that it’s hard to believe this one is leather. It comes with a handy detachable strap, which is perfect for shopping! Nothing better than rummaging through the racks with both hands, right? I’ve only had this bag for a month, but it held up well and didn’t crack even after being exposed to snow and crazy cold Michigan air. So far it’s a winner, whether it’s real leather or not.
Now it’s your turn to tell me how you feel about red color. Share your favorite red things in the comments below!
