Sample Saturday: Dr. Hauschka

I’m running a bit late on my Sample Saturday review this week due to the holidays and the fact that I had to try on bridesmaid’s dresses for my sister-in-law’s upcoming wedding.

This week I was sampling products from Dr. Hauschka, a company that makes 100% natural holistic skincare. I heard about it from my mother who used to like their products back in the 80’s, so both her and I were curious to see how they’ve changed over the years.

Lavender Sandalwood Body Moisturizer
Lavender is a few fun scent, we either like it or hate it. I’m personally belong to the team “No Lavender” so this lotion actually gave me a headache. I still tried to objectively evaluate it, and aside from the fact that I absolutely hated the smell of it [which is quite strong by the way] it actually did a pretty good job. When I squeezed it out, it looked like this lotion would be quite rich and greasy, but it surprisingly sank into my skin pretty fast without leaving a residue. And even though I still smell like lavender [ewwww..] I like the way my skin feels – soft and slightly moisturized.

Firming Mask
It smells kind of like bitter roses which reminds me of my rose scented shaving lotion. The mask feels very rich and nourishing and dries on the skin pretty fast. I didn’t notice any instant firming effects but my skin felt a lot softer. The only thing I didn’t like is that it leaves residue, so if you want to take it off your skin completely you might have to use a cleanser.

Hand Cream
I liked the rich and creamy texture of this hand cream, it’s definitely better than many hand creams I tried previously. It absorbs very fast and makes my hands feel very soft. I especially liked using it right after exfoliating with my Julep Facial for Hands AHA scrub, but I think any gentle scrub will do.

Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream
I really enjoyed testing out this eye cream. It felt a little greasy on the eyes probably because I applied too much at first, but as soon as I figured out the right amount it really grew on me quickly. My under eye skin felt moisturized and nourished and the eyes looked brighter and well-rested every morning ever since I started using it. I’m usually very picky about my eye creams because that area of my face is especially sensitive, and so far this one passed the test. I have been using it for about a week now so it’s too early to say anything about the long-term results, but right now I like it a lot and would definitely recommend it.
