Today our challenge is to create a fashion-inspired look, and I already knew what designer I wanted to honor. A few months ago I was looking to buy a nice comfy plaid shirt, and came across Dries van Noten Summer 2013 fashion show runway pictures. I absolutely loved the purple plaid pattern that tied the collection together, and was looking for something similar at TJ Maxx and other local retailers.
Despite its simple looks, this manicure took me a long time to complete, because I had to use about 10 different nail polishes and allow each new layer of stripes to dry completely before adding a new one. At this point I honestly don’t even remember which polishes I used for it, because my table looked like a nail salon by the time I was done. However, I do remember that I started off with a beige base using Sephora Collection City Amazon and everything else just sprouted from that point. The star of my “stripes” was undoubtedly the fabulous Deborah Lippmann Private Dancer.
Also, this is going to be my last challenge submission, because right after I was done with this mani, I broke several nails and now I’m nurturing them back to length.
My favorite by far, sorry to hear about your nails. It’s the price we pay for awesome manis :(.
Thank you, Ashley, I’m so glad you like it! Broken nails is not the end of the world, and I can’t wait to see them all grown up and long again 🙂
Love this! Purple and plaid are an excellent combination in my book.
Thank you, Lauren! That is a gorgeous combination, indeed. I’ve discovered my love for purple earlier this year, and now I’m obsessed with all purple hues 🙂 I had a blue “phase” before that, so I’m sure it will also pass once I find a new color to obsess over, but so far I’m enjoying my lilacs and violets.
