I never paid much attention to Beauty Box 5, because I felt like it is inferior to other beauty subscription services. I was so wrong! Recently I had an opportunity to try out the October box, and now I feel like I’ve been missing out. This month BB5 tells us to take it easy with warm tea, chunky sweaters and glitter nail polish, and our boxes included a nice mix of nourishing essentials for some Fall pampering.

HOW IT WORKS
For $12/month subscribers will receive a box filled with a carefully selected mixture of five travel-sized, deluxe-sized and full-sized cosmetic products from luxury, commonly known brands, niche brands, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Aimed at introducing women to new cosmetic products and educating them on best practices, Beauty Box 5 scours the market to find the best products for your lifestyle.

ModelCo Illusion Lip Enhancer Kit
According to product description, this nude lip liner is supposed to be used for lip contouring to create an illusion of fuller lips. I like that it comes with a lovely little sharpener which is attached to the cap, so I don’t have to look for one when I need it. Also, this pencil alone retails for $20 which pretty much paid for the box… twice!

La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes
I am a huge fan of La Fresh wipes: I use them almost every day and I try to purchase them every time I spot some on sale or at my local TJ Maxx. I use these wipes in the morning – they’re great for making my skin feel fresh and soft. I don’t think they would do a good job at removing makeup, but they’re wonderful for everyday cleansing.

Swissco Pink Glitter Toe Separators
I actually don’t have separators for my toes, so I was always been trying to be extra careful not to smudge my toenails whenever I gave myself a pedicure. I’m excited to finally start using them, and I like that they’re pink and sparkly 🙂

Nubar Alter Ego Nail Lacquer in Blondie
I’ve always wanted to try Nubar polishes, even though I’ve been interested in 5-free formulas more and more lately. I’ve seen a few swatches online and it looks like Blondie should work well with many colors in my collection.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion
It’s a good-sized sample, similar to the ones you can find in the travel-sized bins at your local drugstore. Personally, I try to avoid petrolatum in beauty products if possible, so I’m going to put this cute little bottle in the guest bathroom sample basket for the visitors.

THE VERDICT
Like I said in the first paragraph, I was very pleased with this month’s Beauty Box 5. It was a nice mix of salon, mid-range and drugstore products, and all of them were very generously sized, not to mention that it contained a few things that I really wanted to try (Nubar and La Fresh).
