The response to my previous perfume review post was very positive, so I wanted to share another discovery with you. I had to return something to Walmart, and decided to walk by the fragrance aisle again to see if they added anything new. Guess what, they had a whole new Holiday display out with all sorts of gift sets, kits and pretty baskets, and half of the space was taken over by fragrances, providing me with plenty of Christmas gift ideas for a certain hard-to-please family member 🙂 Many of those bundles included a full-sized perfume bottle, a purse-sized perfume bottle, and a scented lotion. When I saw the price, I couldn’t resist purchasing one for myself, I just had to decide which one. By the way, as a fun little perk, select celebrity fragrance gift sets come with a bonus ringtone featuring that celeb’s voice; you can learn more about them at ringintheholiday.com if interested.
I already told you in my previous review that all designer fragrances at Walmart now have scratch-and-sniff testers attached to them, so I did just that and narrowed it down to two options – Someday by Justin Bieber [I’m not a fan of his music really, but that fragrance was so fresh and fruity] and Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey, which smelled like vacation to me. I ended up getting Luscious Pink gift set, which cost about the same as one full-sized bottle if I was to buy it separately – talk about great value!
My Luscious Pink gift set came with three products in it: a 1oz Eau de Parfum spray bottle, a 0.16oz purse-sized mini replica of the big Eau de Parfum bottle, and a 3.3oz scented body lotion. As a kid I used to collect butterfly objects: figurines, jewelry, my notebooks had butterflies on them, and my favorite pink PJ had butterfly wings on its back.. Wait a sec.. Pink.. Butterflies? Now I see why I picked this set 🙂 I just love pretty packaging, so how could I possibly resist the beautiful holographic bottle adorned with a delicate pink butterfly.
Luscious Pink was developed by two IFF perfumers – Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong. If you read my review of Wonderstruck Enchanted, you probably remember that Loc Dong was one of its creators. Carlos Benaim is also the “nose” behind high end fragrances like Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb [all editions], Prada Ambre, Loewe Quizas Quizas Quizas [love it!], Bvlgari Jasmin Noir and many others.
I would say Luscious Pink is a Spring/Summer fragrance, because of its clearly fresh and floral notes. The scent opens up with sparkling peach bellini, ocean breeze and citrusy bergamot; followed by the bouquet of white flowers – peony, lily-of-the-valley and tiare; and sets with very faint traces of sandalwood, white musk, and tree bark. This fragrance is not long-lasting at all, and it’s probably the weakest one I currently own, but it smells wonderful while it lasts. It’s not very convoluted either, which is another reason why I moved it to my Spring/Summer stash, it’s like a Spring Break in a bottle – very young, very clean, and not evoking complex emotions other than happiness.
I doubt I will be reaching for this fragrance often in the upcoming Winter season, but I can’t wait to rock it in Spring and Summer. Luscious Pink is going to be my perfect everyday go-to scent, that is pleasant, fresh, and not too complicated. I think it’s a great choice for anyone who wants to smell nice every day without making it seem like they’re trying too hard.

I really like your perfume reviews. I had all but written off ANY Mariah Carey fragrances since the previous ones I had encountered smelled (sickly) sweet and that’s just not my cup of tea. You’ve given me reason to give ths one a sniff and possibly a purchase as I’m a sucker for the lighter scents (do to allergies lol).
Aw thank you Ashley, you’re making me blush 🙂 I must admit, this fragrance is definitely on the sweet side, but it’s way more citrusy than floral, which I think is great and not too over-the-top.
Your pictures are stunning!
Thank you so much! 🙂
I haven’t smelled this one before. I love how purchasing the gift set allows you to layer on the fragrance to make it lasts as long as possible!

It really does make a difference. I also have a trick where I use a bit of vaseline, aquaphor or other petroleum jelly product, and then apply the fragrance. That way it lasts a lot longer because it’s not absorbed by the skin 🙂
