Nicka K Nail Color Ripe Apple Swatches and Review

Purchased by Me

I received this polish in my December 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag, and couldn’t swatch it right away because I had just painted my nails, so I decided to do a separate post for swatches. I’m actually quite indifferent to reds, because I feel like they are too classic, and I would rather wear other colors instead. As it turns out, I actually ended up liking this one!

Ripe Apple came out as part of Nicka K’s new redesigned collection of nail polishes, and is best described a highly pigmented opaque cool deep red apple creme.

The bottle has an unusual shape for nail polish and looks more like an eyeliner. The the brush is large and a bit too thick, which can be good or bad. Good because it allows you to cover a larger area in one swipe to prevent streaks, and bad because if you make a mistake it will result in a bigger mess than usual.

The formula was nice and rich, and as most highly pigmented nail polishes, it will definitely stain your nails unless you wear a base coat.

All Nicka K polishes are free from formaldehyde, toluene and DBP.

Agreed, it’s quite lovely as far as reds go, and not boring at all.

I think most of the shininess can be attributed to the top coat I used, but I agree with you, it’s very timeless and not super boring like some reds can be 🙂

I adore this red! Love that it is more blue based

I love it too, and I’m not a huge fan of reds to begin with 🙂

I wish I’d gotten that one instead of the mushroom shade. I love red polish.

    • December 28, 2013 / 11:49 am

I think I would have been fine with the mushroom one as well, because I don’t have many greiges in my collection, and plenty of reds. This one, however, is gorgeous, so I’m not too sad to have gotten it 😉

Gorgeous! I agree with Marcia – I wish I’d gotten this one instead of the greige one in my bag. (Sheila, Painted Ladies)

I think that greige is pretty, too, actually 🙂
