Nail Rock Pink Glitter Manicure Kit Swatches and Review

I promised you a separate review for this nail art kit, and here it is! Nail Rock is mostly known for their colorful nail wraps, but they recently came out with this line of nail polish and nail art pots, containing sequins, glitter, caviar, and velvet.

The concept is quite simple – paint your nails with two coats of nail polish, then dip them into the glitter pot, press on firmly to help the glitter adhere better, and wait 15-20 minutes. Dust off the excess glitter, and your statement nails are ready to impress the world!

As you can see in the pictures, the glitter is SO shiny, it reflects even the faintest light source, which I thought was pretty cool. Now, this is not the look I would wear on a daily basis, but I think i might use it on the tips or for one accent finger.

The pot is nice and screws on tight, and you might ask “what kind of pot doesn’t?”. Well, you’d be surprised to find out just how much glitter I spilled over the years just because the pots were poorly made, so those flecks spill all over even when the lid’s closed!

Naturally, with most glitter pots there’s a lot of fallout, which is something you might need to be prepared for. The lasting power is not the greatest, and the polish starts chipping a few hours after the application.

THE VERDICT
Overall, I think this is a fun product to play with, especially if you want to quickly glam up your look for the night, but I wouldn’t rely on its lasting power too much beyond that. Heavy glitter fallout should also be considered.

Thank you Erica! I managed to dust off most of the flecks from my nails and fingers, but I sure made a mess on that bathroom counter 🙂

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:38 am

Haha, you know it! Totally impractical, but absolutely fabulous 🙂

I know this is not really a good thing since I do wash my hands a billion times a day – but let me just say I am totally in love with this… so pretty!

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:40 am

Yep, this definitely won’t last long if you wash your hands a lot, after all the glitter started falling off fairly quickly, and I didn’t even do anything special!

How fun! I wonder how it would look with a matte topcoat?

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:54 am

It might, I haven’t tried that yet. Usually textured glitters work amazingly well with glossy top coat, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t with a matte 🙂

This looks amazing on you! I find this style of nail art to be so frustrating, because I always end up making a HUGE mess.

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:54 am

Thank you Sara. And yes, it’s very messy, you should have seen my bathroom counter 🙂

  4. January 24, 2014 / 6:12 am

Now that’s some sparkle! I wouldn’t be able to wear this on a regular day but definitely on a night out.

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:54 am

Agreed, this glitter is definitely the “night out” material 🙂

  5. January 24, 2014 / 8:04 am

That is gorgeous!! I would totally wear this on all my nails! I love sparkle. I wonder if it would last a little longer with a topcoat?

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:55 am

It might, but the texture is very gritty, so it would be hard to even it out.

  6. January 24, 2014 / 9:27 am

I love this color glitter. I have something similar from Avon, but in silver. I’ve used it once because it was too messy. It looks really nice though.

    • January 24, 2014 / 11:56 am

I absolutely agree with you, it’s a very messy process and I think I still might have a bunch of glitter flecks randomly scattered on my bathroom floor.

  7. January 24, 2014 / 12:10 pm

This is seriously pretty but looks hella messy! Ha ha! It may be a PITA for everyday wear but could be fun for a party or a special occasion. 😀

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:30 pm

My thoughts exactly, Erika. I made quite a mess in my bathroom while applying these 🙂

  8. January 24, 2014 / 1:55 pm

That glitter is amazing! It looks incredibly messy though

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:30 pm

Oh yes, it sure sparkles like a disco ball.

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:31 pm

Bling bling bling! This glitter will reflect the light like nobody’s business, so it’s perfect for dark time of the day when you want to stand out 🙂

  9. January 24, 2014 / 5:47 pm

It’s so pretty! I love it!

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:32 pm

I thought so too, but it’s a very messy process 🙂

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:32 pm

Agreed, this is a pretty cool effect and a nice conversation starter.

  10. January 24, 2014 / 10:39 pm

The pink one is much prettier than I thought it would be! I received the Blue Velvet in my birchbox and love it 🙂

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:34 pm

I thought it would look worse too for some reason, so imagine my surprised face when I dusted off the excess glitter and it didn’t look terrible :O I would have loved to try the Velvet type you got, though 🙂

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:33 pm

Me too, wish it wasn’t that messy and lasted longer 🙂

  11. January 25, 2014 / 10:00 am

So glittery! I love Nail Rock!

    • January 25, 2014 / 1:33 pm

I honestly don’t care for their nail wraps, but this kit was really fun to play with.

  12. January 25, 2014 / 10:50 am

All the glitter! Definitely a fun kit to play with.
