Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Face Cream Review

I had an opportunity to try out some of the newest additions to Skin&Co Roma‘s lineup – Truffle Therapy Face Cream and Truffle Therapy Serum [which I will dedicate a separate post to, stay tuned!]. I received about 2-week supply of each product, so my review will be based on two weeks use.

BRAND OVERVIEW
Every cosmetic company has a personal story to share, and Skin&Co Roma is not an exception. In 1911 Sabatino Balestra and his wife Giuseppina opened their first Emporium in Umbria to sell the freshest gourmet ingredients to the local community. In 1953 Giuseppina introduced her own mix of botanical oils to the store, which attracted many Hollywood stars, craving to try her powerful blend full of antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients. Nearly 60 years later, the third generation family entrepreneur Gabriel Balestra found his grandmother’s recipe and had it tested in Italy’s largest cosmetology center. Scientists confirmed that Giuseppina’s formula, packed with natural and seasonal ingredients, was indeed as fantastic as her start-studded clientele believed at the time. Inspired by his findings, Gabriel gave his grandmother’s formula a modern twist, while preserving his family’s tradition, and using only the oldest time-tested recipes, and rigorously selected ingredients. Today Skin&Co Roma brings the Mediterranean experience to customers around the world, who wish to experience indulgent Italian luxury skin care.

Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Face Cream – consistency

The first thing I do when trying a new product is smell it, of course, since the fragrance is sometimes half of the experience for me. Truffle Therapy Cream has a very lovely sweet fragrance, that reminds me of manuka honey, sweet almond oil and some light floral notes. I actually like it so much I would love owning a bottle of perfume that smells just like this moisturizer 🙂

The cream is pure white with a runny consistency, that helps easily spread it over your face and neck in a few wide swipes using as little rubbing as possible [we know that rubbing your face and stretching it too often leads to additional sagging over time]. Moments after I was done spreading, my skin immediately absorbed it all, revealing matte complexion and more lifted facial contour. Over the course of two weeks I noticed my skin appeared slightly more lifted, even when I wasn’t using Truffle Therapy Face Cream, and the laugh lines around my mouth slightly diminished. They were not big to begin with, but I pretty much study my skin under the microscope every day, so I notice these changes even if nobody else would.

I would not recommend this cream to people with very dry skin, because even on my combination skin the effect felt almost too drying. However, if like me you layer your foundation over the moisturizer, this might be a great option, because your face won’t feel too heavy or cakey.

THE VERDICT
I liked this lightweight moisturizer for its divine fragrance, lightweight formula that layers beautifully with my foundation, and short-term as well as long-term improvement to my skin, especially the lifting effect. I would not recommend it for people with dry skin, unless they plan on layering it with another heavier cream on top.

I’m so glad you mentioned the fragrance, because I was afraid it was going to smell like truffles! lol. Sounds heavenly!

It really smells sweet and delicious, not like truffles at all. It’s easily one of the best skincare fragrances imo 🙂

Good to know that it’s emollient. That’s one thing I look for in creams.

Indeed, using as few strokes as possible is probably still the best way to spread the moisturizer before gently patting it in.

Haha, I agree, there’s something oddly intriguing about truffles in skincare 🙂

I like olive oil, it’s one of my favorite ingredients. But I agree, that moisturizer does still look a little light for those with dry skin!

True, olive oil is a fabulois skin, body and hair moisturizer, and I often used it when my skin felt too dry.
