I’m getting seriously obsessed with Milani‘s recent Spring 2014 releases, I think it’s definitely one of the best drugstore collections this season, if not the best. One of the products I picked up to try out was their Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain in Mango Tango. I really only wanted to try one shade, and since all of them are gorgeous, I decided to pick this one because I love mangoes [and that’s how all of my brightest decisions are made, LOL].

So the first thing that stood out to me was the size of this pen, it was smaller than I had expected, however, it turned out to be perfect for my small makeup bag. The gloss/stain/paste/color stuff comes out of the bottle after just a few twists, much faster than most twist-to-color products from my stash, which is nice, because I hate sitting there and twisting the cap for eternity. Yeah, I’m not the most patient person in the world, so every second spent on twisting these caps is especially infuriating 🙂

The formula is ultra-pigmented: to achieve fully opaque and glossy finish I needed about half a grain of rice worth of product. This gloss doesn’t feel sticky on the lips, nor does it have an unpleasant smell, actually, it doesn’t smell like anything at all, which makes me [a scent-sensitive person] very happy. On the lips Power Lip feels like butter, and unlike most lip stains, it doesn’t dry them out.

The synthetic brush tip is quite useful, and allows for precise and even application, which is especially convenient for those areas where you need to be flawless, like corners of your mouth or cupid’s bow.

The final look was vivid, glossy and sultry, my husband even called it “hooker lips”, but he later admitted it’s because they looked shamelessly sexy. I kind of agree with him on that, my lip swatches for this product even made me think they’re awesome, and I’m probably the most self-critical and self-deprecating person I know. It can feather a little bit if you apply too much by accident, so less is more with these stains.

Longevity-wise, the butterry-glossy part will probably rub off after 4 hours [or after the first time you eat something substantial], however, the stain part will last for 15 hours, maybe even longer. After swatching Mango Tango and wearing it all day, I went to bed, and woke up with traces of color still on my lips. Talk about crazy pigmentation!

THE VERDICT
I’m glad I gave Power Lip Lasting & Moisturiing Gloss Stain a try, even though I wasn’t really looking to buy this type of product for personal use, and got this one mainly for the purpose of reviewing. However, now that I know how amazing these are, I’m really tempted to grab Macaroon and Creamy Cafe while this collection is still in stores. To sum it up, these lip stains are highly pigmented, very glossy, long-lasting, come in 8 gorgeous shades, easy to apply and come in convenient twist-up wand packaging; they really feel like high quality department store products.

That is a beautiful color! I love gloss stains. I hate twisting forever to get the ‘color stuff’ out, too. Stila is most guilty of that!
