Milani Bella Rosa Baked Blush Review, Swatches, Pictures

I knew I was forgetting something, and I finally remembered what it was! I’m sure you remember all my Milani posts a few weeks ago, well I totally forgot to review another gem from the Spring Collection – Bella Rosa – one of two brand new baked blush colors. By now you might have seen all the raving reviews, and let me tell you, they were not lying. These two blushes are actually that amazing!

Milani Baked Blush in “Bella Rosa” – arm swatches and finger swipes. Crazy pigmented, isn’t it?

The packaging is a plastic gold-rimmed container, typical for Milani. Nothing special, but still looking very pretty [at least until it starts showing signs of wear]. There is a small compartment with a brush at the bottom of the pan, which comes quite handy, but I prefer using my own.

Bella Rosa is best described as rich matte raspberry rose, and it’s quite possibly the most pigmented blush I currently own. What excites me the most about the color is the fact that it’s matte. I’m sure you know how hard it is to find a good affordable matte blush these days, when it seems like everything is packed with shimmer. And while I don’t really mind the shimmer too much, it’s nice to have some variety, you know?

Because Bella Rosa is so saturated, there is a real risk of over-applying, and in fact, I did just that the first time I put it on [and quite possibly the second and third]. It really sticks to the skin, especially if you already have foundation on, so it could be hard to blend out the mistakes, making this blush a little hard to handle, especially if you are new to highly-pigmented blushes. The texture is smooth and soft, but just a little powdery, making it very easy to grab too much.

Bella Rosa lasted on my skin for a solid nine hours on bare skin, and eight hours over foundation, before I started noticing signs of fading, so whatever you layer it with will impact how long the blush will last.

THE VERDICT
Milani Baked Blush Bella Rosa is quite possibly one of the most pigmented drugstore blushes out there. It’s not packed very densely, making it easy to grab too much, so it’s important to remember to be careful at first if you are not used to richly pigmented products. It lasts 8-9 hours on the skin before showing first signs of fading. Overall, I thought this is a very impressive blush, and a great addition to my makeup collection. Yay for a good cheap matte blushes!

Hi Lauren — I’ve been so impressed with this blush, now I want to buy more colors. I see you recently raved about Luminoso, and that one is on my wishlist now. I look forward to trying it next!

Hi Laura — It’s so scary pigmented, I think I just might have overapplied it 🙂 But I agree with you, it’s a very wearable color, and looks almost like real blushing cheeks, if blended well.

I’ve never had a blush last that long! wow. I’d have to be super-careful, though, I don’t want to be a clown!

Hi Nidia — Oh yes, this is a dangerous one for sure, and you might need to practice a bit. I might have overapplied it in the swatches above, it’s so easy to do, since this blush is super-saturated.

So pigmented yet it gave you a natural, flushed look! beautiful!

Hi there! — I have to honestly admit that I have never tried anything by Milani prior to last year, and I feel like I’ve been missing out! Their products are fabulous 🙂 And you are absolutely right about the blush, it’s so pigmented, it’s almost scary to use.

Holy cow that is pigmented! Milani really did an awesome job with their Baked Blushes–Luminoso and Coralina also look gorgeous in swatches. I wouldn’t know which blush to pick if I got one!

    • April 14, 2014 / 10:16 am

Hi Sammi — Uhh, I know right? It’s so pigmented, it’s almost scary to use! I was thinking of picking up Luminoso next, it seems like a perfect color on its own, and can also be used as a highlighter, and swiped over other blushes. Let me know which one you end up buying!
