Each kit is packaged in a molded paper box, and wrapped with a sheet of handcrafted purple rice paper, adorned with golden chrysanthemums [pun intended?] that represent happiness and joy in Japanese culture. The box is held together with a tied up golden string, that adds a subtle touch of elegance to this already gorgeous packaging.

After opening the box, we see a sheet of white rice paper with a beautiful message to the giftee, so a separate card is really not necessary if you’re planning to give this set as a present.

Each Okasan Gift Set contains three products: LUMINOUS Deep Hydration Lifting Mask, GOLD Camellia Beauty Oil, and GOLD Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm. As a special bonus, TATCHA included a small box with one dozen pieces of authentic Japanese hard candy [kuchifuku ame] from Kyoto.

The candy comes in its own little hand-crafted box, also featuring purple chrysanthemum paper. Inside, there are twelve individually wrapped pieces in three flavors: strawberry milk, matcha tea [the kind of powdered green tea commonly used for tea ceremonies], and yuzu [Japanese citrus fruit, with flavor resembling a mix of mandarin and grapefruit]. Each candy was unlike anything I’ve tried before, the flavors were familiar but still very unique, especially the yuzu variety – it was so fragrant!

Although I understand the concept of face oils as moisturizers my skin has reacted horribly to every one I’ve tried so now I avoid them completely. (My face even reacts to those that I’ve used very lightly to smooth my hair.) The lip balm looks amazing though!
