Do you like the idea of paired fragrances? I do, and if I could make my husband wear one every day, I think it would be really nice if it complemented mine. That’s the main idea behind paired fragrances, when the perfume and cologne smell great both on their own, and when you and your significant other are standing next to each other, without creating a scent clash. That’s the concept behind Aqua 41 – a new fragrance duo from American Coastal Co.
INSPIRATION
“AQUA 41 earned its name from its unique and honest development. Inspired by the ocean, it was named AQUA. Each bottle is aged for forty-one days, giving the name AQUA 41. This is part of our proprietary formula allowing the fragrance to age to perfection. Perfumers from our partnered fragrance house traveled to evaluate oceans of the eastern coast just before a storm. Days of research and evaluation with dozens of retains of sand, seashells, ocean water, and other elements inspired the scent of AQUA 41.”
I’m not entirely sure what the benefits of fragrance aging are, but the idea sounds intriguing! Aqua 41 Cologne and Perfume were designed to evoke memories of a tropical vacation with its sandy beaches, exotic flowers and ocean breeze.
Aqua 41 Perfume is described as life in paradise with walks on the beach, exhilarating ocean water tickling your feet, fresh salty breeze, and the fragrance of tropical flowers in the air. It opens up with top notes of violet leaves and cyclamen, setting to a lavish floral heart of white rose, jasmine, and vanilla bean, before revealing a delicate base of sandalwood, white cedar, and silver musk. This scent is very floral indeed, but it’s not overwhelming, so those of you who like florals that smell fresh, might enjoy this one as well.
Aqua 41 Cologne is described as powerful crashing waves and thunderstorm over the ocean. This masculine fragrance opens with a splash of citrus tonic, sparkling bergamot and black pepper, revealing the aromatic bouquet of lavender leaves, clary sage and ozone, and finally setting to the base of sensuous amber resin, warm musk and white sun-bleached woods. This fragrance is actually pretty unisex, I can see myself wearing it occasionally. It’s very fresh and sophisticated, and would definitely made my head turn if I caught a whiff of it on someone.
