Birchbox is a subscription service that delivers a box of luxury beauty samples to your doorstep every month. Subscribers receive 4-6 samples and sometimes even full-sized products. At $10/month Birchbox is one of the cheapest monthly beauty subscriptions out there, the value of each box usually ranges from at least $15 and can be as high as $60. They also have a nice rewards program, where for each completed product survey you get 10 points, every 100 points earns you $10 in Birchbox credits – a currency to use in their online store for full-sized products and even gift subscriptions.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Silver – Destination: New York. Cynthia Rowley is one of my favorite fashion designers, because her clothes fit me like a glove. I also own a lot of products from her home line, like duvet covers, comforters, pillows, candles, rugs etc. However, this is the first time I get to try her cosmetics line, even though it was out for a while, so of course I’m excited about that. The eyeliner I got came in this gorgeous silver color, it’s buttery smooth and pleasantly pigmented. It goes on so easily, and the color payout is great! I liked it enough to purchase a few more colors for my collection next time I make an order at birchbox.com

Perlier Body Cream in Shea Almond – Destination: Italy. As a big fan of Perlier products, I was thrilled to try this body butter. It’s actually hard to give me a sample of their body product that I haven’t tried yet, so this is extra exciting, because these rich body cremes are among very few things I have yet to sample from the lineup. It’s seriously very nourishing; and if you love the scent of The Body Shop’s almond body butter [my favorite line from them by far], this one smells almost exactly the same! And those of you that haven’t tried that one yet, I’d say the fragrance is very sweet and almondy, almost like a delicious marzipan. Yum! Another winner from Perlier!

LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Menatour – Destination: New York. I’ve been dying to try LAQA’s new Lip Lube pencils, and finally I got my hands on one. It feels very moisturizing and wears comfortably, but I’m not sure I like this particular color on me. However, these pencils come in four shades, and the other three really appeal to me! I’ll be picking up the neutral peachy Bees Knees on my next shopping trip, because I don’t have any lip products similar to that one.

Dr. Hauschka Body Wash in Lemongrass – Destination: Germany. Dr. Hauschka is one of my favorite international brands, I used their products many years ago back when I lived in Europe, and always liked everything they had to offer. This teeny sample of their body wash is probably only big enough for a one-time use, but I look forward to using it when I do. I’ll probably save it in my sleepover kit.

| Nyakio Skin Care Sampler |
Nyakio Skin Care Sampler – Destination: Kenya. Pronounced as neh-kay-oh, this brand is inspired by African heritage. Using tried and tested ingredients like Kenyan coffee, Kola nut and Marula oil, Nyakio products are meant to effectively leave all skin types healthy and more youthful-looking, naturally. I read many rave reviews about these products lately, so I’m very intrigued to try this trio for myself. The kit comes with samples of Kenyan Coffee Face Polish, Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub, and Hydrating Face Oil With Kola Nut.
THE VERDICT
I loved my June Birchbox! It was stuffed with amazing products from all over the world, and contained two makeup samples that I highly coveted. Lots of happy discoveries this month for me!

Uhh, that stinky mascara killed the Ipsy bag for me this month, even though I did get a few samples that I liked. This month’s Birchbox has been one of the best I have received to date, so it’s really hard to beat. I mean, full-sized LAQA chubby stick? Sign me up!
Did you complain about the BAB mascara to ipsy or BAB? I usually love their products & I can’t believe they sent out a real miss like that to so many women. Big mistake.
Nope, should I? I heard they replied to someone’s complaint by saying they don’t add any fragrance to their products, and that’s why the smell of the actual ingredients is “unmasked” like that. I may try and complain to Ipsy, we’ll see how that goes. Last time I got that awful POP Beauty lip gloss, and now this… Ipsy sample matchmaking system must really hate me, haha!
Looks like a neat box this month. I gave up on BB 2 years ago and Ipsy last year. I’m just flooded with too many samples. 😛
Totally understand what you mean, Elvira! I took a break from Ipsy for a few months last year, but came back when they started featuring better brands. I end up giving away or selling most of my samples on eBay.
