LAQA & Co Tuxedo Manicure Duo Review, Swatches, Pictures

A tuxedo in a bottle, say what? LAQA&Co Tuxedo Manicure Duo is for anyone who loves experimenting with tone-on-tone manicures using different textures and finishes. Tuxedo pen comes with two bottles of black nail polish on each end – one with high-shine glossy finish, and the other one in muted matte. How genius is that?

The matte polish has a slightly goopy formula and requires a somewhat steady hand to apply evenly. I thought I did pretty well, but there are still some areas that look obviously thicker in some spots. Other than that the formula is pretty good, it took me two coats for complete opacity and even coverage. The polish didn’t pool over my cuticles and didn’t stain the nails, even though it’s very pigmented.

The glossy side has one of the best black polish formulas ever, seriously! It’s a super pigmented one-coater than goes on like butter without streaks. The formula is just right, it’s not too thick, nor too thin, making it an ideal canvas for pretty much any other kind of polish you might want to put on top. My favorite toppers include various glitters, holos and color blocking nail art.

There are so many ways these two can be paired together! Try using one end as a base color and the other end for french tips, dots, stripes, stamping, chevron, or even marbling if you’re brave enough to attempt that. I went with simple glossy dots over a base matte color. This manicure took me only 10 minutes to do and I loved the result: it was cute and edgy at the same time 🙂

THE VERDICT
Overall, the idea of dual-ended nail polishes is amazing, especially if they are different finishes of the same shade. I would totally buy more if LAQA decided to release them. What about you? Would you rock something like this?

PRICE & AVAILABILITY

That is beautiful. Black is actually one of the few colors I like matte.

Unfortunately, I hate double-ended nail polishes with a passion, so I’ll pass on this….BUT I love, love, love the look you created!
