I know, I know, I totally skipped last week’s favorites. To be honest, I’ve been battling crazy migraines on top of mood swings and all sorts of stupid thoughts crawling in my head. Yeah, we all have our issues, and that was my bi-monthly “case of crazy”.
I am actually spending this weekend in Indiana with my husband’s family, so by the time you read this post, I will be in Indianapolis, slurping iced tea from a mason jar at some hipster cafe, or something. In this roundup I want to show you some of the products I brought with me on a trip, so we can call it Travel Favorites.
A while ago I bought a pile of Sephora Collection Shower Cream Capsules [$15].Those cute little shower pods take almost no space, and are super convenient for traveling.
I test a lot of hand creams, but when it comes to traveling, I always used my tried-and-true L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream [$12] or Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream [$9]. This week it’s L’Occitane’s turn to keep my hands soft and smooth.
This is not so much a travel essential, as an everyday essential – I always carry around one nail polish remover wipe, because I simply can’t stand the look of chipped nails. On this trip I’m taking one butter LONDON “Scrubbers” 2-in-1 Nail prep & Remover Pad [$10]. One pad is enough to wipe off any nail polish from all ten nails, but I’m hoping I won’t need to use it.
As far as hair goes, I plan to keep it in a simple, but neat sock bun the whole time, and to tame any possible strays, I’m bringing Number 4 Non-Aerosol Hairspray [$30]. It offers strong hold to keep my hair slick throughout the day.
Tatcha Aburatorigami Blotting Papers [$12] were among my most important beauty discoveries, and made me realize that not all blotting papers are created equal. I have combination skin, but it’s not terribly oily. Traditional “plastic” blotting papers sucked out too much oil, so my skin actually ended up looking dry. Tatcha papers absorb just the right amount of oil, enough to eliminate the sheen, leaving my skin looking healthy and petal soft.
I love giving my skin a nice acid peel from time to time, and dr. Dennis Gross Original Alpha Beta Peel Pads [$15] were the first I tried when I started with chemical treatments. Just one nightly treatment is enough to make my skin feel soft and smooth for several days.
And lastly, my favorite Supergoop City Sunscreen Serum [$42]. I love that it feels different from most conventional formulas – it’s creamy and doesn’t have that “signature” sunscreen smell. It also plays well with my makeup and skincare, and that’s worth a lot in my book 😉
