DIY scented soy candles are among my favorite at-home projects! The process is fast, easy, and very calming… I first learned how to make them several months ago, so this project has been a long time coming. I started by playing with plain wax first, and slowly incorporated aromatherapy oils, colors, and even tried different shapes. Today I wanted to share tips on making mason jar scented soy candles using your favorite essential oils. For my latest batch I used Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ pure aromatherapy essential oils that are readily available at a local Walmart® in the vitamin aisle.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Soy Wax 1lb
- Soy Wick
- Mason Jar [1 pint-sized]
- Aromatherapy Oils
- Wooden Skewer
INSTRUCTIONS:
1 // Put soy wax in microwave-safe container and melt on high for 3-4 minutes. Time may vary depending on your appliance, but for me it took about 3.5 minutes.
2 // Let the wax cool for 5 minutes, then pour in the essential oils you want to add. For my candle I used an entire bottle of Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ Jasmine Blended Essential Oil and 20 drops of Patchouli 100% Pure Essential Oil.
3 // Pour the wax into the mason jar, make sure not to overfill. Now trim the wick roughly an inch above the top of the jar, then place it in the middle. If the wax is still very liquid, put the wooden skewer on top of the jar so it holds the wick in place.
4 // Wait for the wax to fully solidify then trim the wick to about 1/4″, and enjoy your new awesome candle!
See, I told you this will be easy! These candles make perfect little gifts that can be easily personalized, and they look great, too. The mason jars can be reused to make more candles later, or you can take on another DIY project, like a body scrub or a homemade hair masque. Let me know if you want me to share other easy DIY beauty and lifestyle projects, and I’ll be happy to do so!
P.S.: You may have noticed tiny red spots in my candle. Truth is, I wanted to try a tie dye technique but got a little too confident in my skills and my plan didn’t work out 🙂

These would be so fun to make for gifts and then wrapped in cute prints.
