While I love many PIXI products, their powder eye shadows always seemed to be lacking something, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying them. Today I wanted to show you a couple spring palettes that were sent to me in January, and a makeup look using one of them.
Each PIXI Mesmerizing Mineral Palette [$12, available here] contains six colors that complement each other perfectly and can be used to complete your makeup look together or solo. There are currently nine variations available, and I was sent two of them: Aquamarine Dream and Amethyst Aura.
ABOUT THE PALETTES:
PIXI eye shadows feature vitamin-infused mineral formula that reflects the light away from imperfections. Each of the palettes contains a mix of colors carefully coordinated to be worn together and alone.
“Six silky, coordinated, must-have shades to use together or solo plus a double-ended sponge applicator for fast & fuss-free application.”
Lighter shades were designed to be swished on with a single stroke over lid, brow bone and under eye for eye-brightening effect. Darker shades can be used in the crease and as an eyeliner to sculpt and define eyes. PIXI recommends using a large fluffy brush for a sheer effect, or a shorter bristle brush for a more vibrant color payoff.
SHADES:
PIXI Mesmerizing Mineral Palette comes in 9 gorgeous jewel-toned color combinations. The two I received are:
- Aquamarine Dream – with aqua, turquoise, and sapphire shades.
- Amethyst Aura – with rose, indigo, and vibrant violet shades.
Blue is making a comeback this year, as seen on the runways and in spring beauty editorials, so I’m not surprised that PIXI is promoting it. As pretty as that one was, it’s Amethyst Aura that grabbed my attention. Those lilacs, purples, and pinks are perfect to enhance brown eyes, so that’s the one I decided to do a makeup look with.
MY THOUGHTS:
I’ll be brutally honest here, most PIXI eye shadows have sheer coverage, medium at best, and even after applying eye primer I had to build up the intensity a bit. However, not everyone likes powerful pigments, so if sheer washes of color are your thing [think watercolor effect], you will probably like these palettes. I used my fingers for the swatches and could barely get any color payoff, so I decided not to include them in this review. But when I used a brush with dense goat hair bristles, I could actually pick up a nice amount of product. I will probably give these palettes to my mom and sister who prefer less pigmented eye shadows. Mom will love the blue one, and my sister has brown eyes like me, so she will certainly appreciate the purples.

I love how soft and pretty the eyeshadow look you did is, but on principle I just wish the shadows looked like what they did in the pan!
Thank you! The shadows don’t have the best payoff so I had to really pack them on to build up the vibrancy. I think shadows aren’t PIXI’s strong point, but their eyeliners and lipsticks are amazing. I also started testing their skincare and some products are very impressive!
