Fall is a great time to try some new rich body butters, and today I want to introduce you to yet another gem that I recently added to my ever-growing stash. I have tried many Periler products, and I actually liked all of them for the most part, so I this Imperial Honey Body Butter had my high expectations to live up to.
PRODUCT CLAIMS
“This exclusive melting body butter from the rare Honey of Black Bees, combined with Royal Jelly, is a true youth-elixir. It nourishes the skin, leaving it pleasantly scented with the sensual notes Honey and Oriental woods. Perfect to protect the skin from cold in winter and also ideal to help sooth the skin after sun exposure.”
You know me, I’m a sniffer, which means the first thing I do when opening a new product is smelling it. The initial scent in a jar can be described as a very light, almost floral, honey with hints of vanilla frosting. However, right after it’s applied to the skin, the fragrance transforms and you end up smelling almost like chocolate. I recognized that scent of cocoa butter immediately because I have a pocket stick of it in my purse at all times. Another major ingredient is shea butter, which is pretty much essential for fighting against dry skin.
The consistency of the butter was thicker than some other products I currently use, and while normally it would be a major overkill for my combination skin, I don’t shy away from thicker formulas for cold and dry months in Michigan. It is very emollient and spreads well, making it great for potentially adding extra layers to areas that need the most help (knees, elbows etc).
Now there are some cons too. First of all, I believe the addition of “fragrance” was unnecessary, considering that the cocoa butter and honey are pretty fragrant on their own, and most people like them. Another con is the price – for $40 there are way too many other options available. And the third con is the wide jar packaging, which potentially allows the product to be cross-contaminated over time, and because plant extracts lose their effectiveness when exposed to air. Granted, the first two cons are purely subjective, while the third con is arguable, since most of us use up these body butters faster than they can be contaminated.
Overall, I can say that I really enjoyed sampling Imperial Honey Body Butter, and while it’s normally outside of my personal price range for this type of product, I can see myself potentially getting more if there is a good sale. I like the way it makes my skin feel soft without looking too greasy, and the gentle scent of cocoa it leaves on my body.

I love Perlier’s body butters! I got a set of 5 for $20 around last February. They’re great! I use them on the especially dry areas (elbows, knees, etc.) They last forever!
This is the first Perlier body butter I tried, and now you’re making me want to buy more 🙂 I must catch one of those sweet deals like the one you got.
