Le Parcel Review: January 2015

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might remember my less than favorable review for TOM [time of the month] delivery service Le Parcel. Now, exactly two years later, I decided to give them another try after receiving an email about their revamp. Let’s see what changed…

HOW IT WORKS
Le Parcel is a time-of-the-month subscription service that delivers a package filled with your choice of feminine products, mystery gift, and a sweet treat when you need it most for $15/month + $5 Shipping & Handling.

My main gripe with them was punctuality. When you rely on someone else to buy your tampons, it’s kind of a big deal when they’re late. Last time they were a whole week late, after that it’s like “what was the point of this thing, again?” This time around my package arrived on time, with a few days to spare. We’re off to a good start already!

The monthly gifts have improved as well. Last time I received a bunch of elastic hair ties and two Lindor truffle singles. This time I got a Pura Vida Bracelet, Daily Concepts Body Scrubber, and a slice of a wonderful natural hand-made French clay & peppermint soap by Soap Revolt Naturals. I don’t care for that type of bracelet because I rarely sport surfer-chic style clothing, but the loofah and the soap will get used for sure.

Your girly goodies don’t come randomly thrown in anymore. They are packaged in a resealable pouch, so nothing rolls around in your box during shipping. By the way, when you subscribe to Le Parcel, you can choose up to 25 feminine products from the brands they offer on the website, so each shipment can be customized as much as you like, and you can edit those preferences for every month.

Subscribers also have the option to skip a month, and that’s one thing I wish all monthly box companies would implement, because it saves everyone the hassle of having to cancel and re-subscribe if we want to get the box every other month or less often. Speaking of canceling, it’s very easy and you can do it through the account dashboard, instead of having to send emails and hoping they do it right. I had the worst experience with another service where the CS person told me they canceled my subscription, but still kept charging me and sending me boxes…

I always get comments along the lines of “go get your tampons at the grocery store like the rest of us”, so let me be clear: TOM subscriptions are a total splurge, and the upcharge is mostly for convenience and the curation aspect. I can see how it might not be the most practical thing, but it really does make one happy to get a surprise gift other than the one Nature gives you.

THE VERDICT
Using just this month as an example, I can certainly say that Le Parcel put on those big girl panties and stepped up their game. While the memories of getting angry emails for my negative review from someone working at that company are still fresh in my mind, I am all for giving people another chance. I don’t plan to stay subscribed; I just wanted to write this review to let you guys know that they are definitely a better service now, and if interested you can try them out at 50% off by using my referral link.

P.S.: I got lazy here and didn’t count the retail value of everything inside, but it was roughly the same amount as what you’d normally pay for the box.
