Spotted: Inexpensive Drugstore Alternative to My Favorite Hand Cream

pr sample

Winter hasn’t been as cold and snowy as local weather people predicted, but my skin is still feeling the effects of hot dry air indoors wherever I go. I feel like I am constantly reapplying hand cream, it’s that bad! And if you are sorta loyal to a department store favorite, then you probably know that it can get pretty expensive to maintain the habit around this time of the year. A few months ago I got sent a few Nubian Heritage products to try, and one of them was this Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Hand Cream that I didn’t get to use until last week. For those who don’t know, Nubian Heritage is a less expensive sister brand of SheaMoisture.

Nubian Heritage says “this nutrient-rich hand treatment is specially formulated with Indian Hemp Oil and Vetiver which are revered in Asian and tropical communities for their moisturizing and naturally hydrating properties.”

This is only the second hand cream with hemp I’ve tried [the first one was Hemp Hand Protector from The Body Shop], but my skin seems to love it so far. It’s true that it’s very moisturizing, I would even say it can get greasy if overapplied or used during the warmer months or in warmer climate. I wouldn’t recommend it if your hands tend to get sweaty either, because then it quickly turns into nasty sticky mess. However, if like me you struggle with dry conditions, indoors or outdoors, this could be an inexpensive skin savior you’ve been waiting for.

I don’t know about other varieties, but Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Hand Cream lasts a very long time on my hands after the application, providing hours of comfort. It sort of sinks in, but only halfway, leaving a barely-there trace of moisture on the surface. I won’t pretend that it can completely replace two of my current favorites from TATCHA and L’Occitane, but I’ll always turn to Nubian Heritage hand creams for Fall and Winter from now on.

Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Hand Cream does not contain any kind of “junky” ingredients, which is always a good thing. We get bombarded with so many nasty chemicals on a daily basis, so it’s very refreshing to find a product this pure at a low price point.

Do you need this? Yep! I honestly think that Nubian Heritage is one of the best drugstore beauty brands out there, and I highly recommend checking it out. This hand cream in particular is perfect for cold and dry climates.
