Memebox (미미박스) Dirty Gal Box Unboxing, Review, December Discount Codes + Some Meme News

I kind of feel bad for writing these Memebox unboxings while there are no boxes for sale. However, according to the rumors I heard through a Meme-grapevine, new box releases will resume later this month and become a regular thing again in 2015. But you know what, I’ll believe it when I see it. Yes, they just sold two Christmas boxes, but we don’t know if those were just highly requested specials, or Memebox is back on schedule. Without further ado, take a look at my Dirty Gal Superbox, that came in the mail just a few days ago.

HOW IT WORKS
Memebox Global is not a typical subscription service. They periodically curate boxes filled with assorted beauty products popular among Koreans, and those Limited Edition bundles are sold on first come first serve basis. Prices vary depending on the type of the box. Memebox ships internationally, so make sure to check on their website and see if they ship in your country – chances are they do. All themed boxes tend to sell out fast, so by the time you read this review this particular box might not be available for sale anymore.

Dr. MJ Real Mucin Restore Cream – This cream came without an outer box, which I thought was really strange, considering there was enough space in the box for it to fit in. Luckily, it was sealed tight on the inside, so I hope that means the contents inside aren’t contaminated. This moisturizer was the reason I bought the box. It was released as the first spoiler, and seeing its retail value paired with the fact that snail slime filtrate seems to work well for my skin, I decided to pull the trigger and grab this fairly expensive box [by Memebox standards].

How to use: Apply over clean face AM and PM after toner, essence, serum and ampoule. Suitable for dry, normal, combination, and sensitive skin types.

This cream is one of the company’s bestsellers, which is proudly displayed on their front page. It contains a whopping 90% of snail filtrate, making it a powerful tool in restoring radiance and elasticity to damaged skin. I put it in my rotation immediately, even though I have several other moisturizers lined up on my vanity table. It’s very slimey, and I know some people will probably hate that, but that’s what I like about it. If anybody still remembers The Skin House Snail System Cream with brown cap from the original Snail Superbox, it has a similar quality of making strings for miles.

B&SOAP Mamie Blue – I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this product looks like something from a LUSH store. Just like LUSH products, this is an all-natural self-preserving cleanser packaged in a recyclable plastic pot. Due to the fact that it’s a fresh mask, it should be used as soon as possible.

How to use: Spread a thick layer over clean face, rest for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Suitable for all skin types, except sensitive.

Since I’m pretty much forced to start using it right away, I gave it a shot yesterday and it feels and smells exactly like LUSH Mask of Magnaminty, which I adore. The only difference is the color. It made my face feel cool and fresh, and cleared up the gunk from my enlarged pores pretty well. I only hope I can use it up before it expires.

Cleomee Natural Donkey Oil – This is not a pure donkey oil by any means; it’s a blend of EGF donkey, olive, soybean, grape seed, jojoba, sunflower, and macadamia oils. Free of harsh irritants like parabens, artificial colors, alcohol, and other skin irritants, this looks like a very gentle body moisturizer that can be used even by people with sensitive skin.

How to use: Gently massage into clean face and body for extra nourishment. Suitable for all skin types.

My nose is very sensitive to scents, which is kind of a bad thing, because I can smell dirty socks and BO from across the room, and it sometimes gives me headaches. Why did I mention that? Because this stuff stinks! I can tell the company tried to mask the natural “aroma” behind something floral, but it isn’t working too well. It’s definitely moisturizing, and my skin feels amazing when I use this oil, but just because of the smell I only apply it at night so I can try to fall asleep quickly and then wash it off first thing in the morning. Still, it’s a great body treatment and worth trying for sure, especially if you aren’t scent-sensitive. I doubt I’d pay the retail price for it though.

Esthetic House Mayo Pack – I know mayo is good for hair, it’s one of the most well-known DIY beauty tricks that even my great grandma must’ve used. Now, if I can use plain ol’ mayo, why would I need a mayo hair pack? I’m not quite sure.

How to use: Use this pack how you would use a conditioner. Apply generously to your hair after shampooing, wait 3 minutes, and wash off with lukewarm water. Suitable for all hair types.

From the sound of it, this hair pack is very close to actual mayonnaise, but has more preservatives, because it’s sold as a cosmetic product. I have a ton of open hair treatments right now so I’ll wait to use this one, but I’m curious to find out how it compares to mayo, or to other masks. Anybody tried it yet?

Pure Smile Muddy Girl x2 – I remember getting one of these masks in the original Cute Memebox, and I really liked it back then. It’s your typical mud mask, but packaged in a mess-free travel-friendly pod. The pod is non-resealable, so it’s safe to assume that each mask is supposed to be used for one application.

How to use: Apply evenly over clean face and rest for 10-15 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water. Suitable for normal, oily, and combination skin types.

Pure Smile and Purederm are two of my favorite cheap mask brands, I feel like they actually do something for my skin. So far I used the yellow mask, and it felt nice and refreshing. Pure Smile also makes my favorite silicone-free snail hair treatment that I will be buying more off on eBay.

THE VERDICT
I feel like Dirty Gal was a very solid box overall, and I’m particularly happy about the moisturizer, because so far it’s been fabulous. I look forward to trying the mayo hair pack, and since I ran out of Mask of Magnaminty about two months ago, B&SOAP’s Mamie Blue turned out to be an unexpected replacement. As for donkey oil, I’ll try to get accustomed to the smell, because it really is a great product and works wonders for dehydrated winter skin. It would have been nice to have at least one more product in the box, even if it was sample-sized, but still, I’m very pleased with what I got.

Did you buy Dirty Gal box? Are there any trendy ingredients you refuse to get on board with (donkey oil, snail slime etc)?
