I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with my hair lately, and trying different things. I went from loving ultra-straight hair to obsessing over curls and beachy waves, so now that’s my “thing”. Every good curly hair style requires a good curler of course, and the latest one I tried was KISS InstaWave – a fully automatic tangle-free tool that makes hair styling a quick and easy process.
I’m a total goof when it comes to curling wands, I lost count of all the times I burned my fingers trying to wrap the hair around, so when I realized that KISS InstaWave will pretty much wrap my hair around the wand all on its own, I breathed a sigh of relief.

Even though it looks fancy, the instructions are pretty straightforward:
1. Plug in the wand.
2. Pick Low or High heat setting and wait for the wand to heat up. The light indicator will turn blue when it’s ready to use.
3. Holding the wand vertically, place the section of your hair you want to curled on the rod
4. Press the Curl Dial [big round button] on left ride or right side, depending on which direction you want the curl to go.
5. Wait 5-10 seconds and slowly pull the wand down vertically, releasing the curl.
For tight princessy coils don’t brush your hair right after curling, fix it in place with some hairspray first and then lightly run your fingers through the strands to make the ‘do look a little more natural. For smooth glamorous waves [like the ones in this post], run a paddle brush through your hair immediately after curling, and fix in place with hairspray. For beachy waves, use low heat setting and curl each strand no longer than 3-4 seconds, then brush it right away with your fingers and apply sea salt texturizer.
I had a lot of fun playing with various curly hair styles, but I have to note one negative thing about KISS InstaWave: when plugged into an outlet, it emits a barely-there high pitch noise. KISS says that it’s caused by the circuit to drive the motor, and there’s no safety issue, but I’m guessing they will work on improving that part at some point. This sound doesn’t really bother me personally, because my brain just tunes it out, but I know some people can be very sensitive to high pitch noises.
To sum it up, I’ve been very pleased with KISS InstaWave, and after using it for several weeks it became my go-to tool for quickly creating perfect tangle-free curly and wavy hair styles. If you can get past that high pitch sound, then it’s actually a pretty amazing curling wand. But really, this sound is super quiet, and I don’t even notice it anymore [think of it like the faint sound from those ancient TVs and giant computer monitors from the 90s].
