Remember that blog post where I talked about my Mom’s favorite makeup products? I received several emails from you guys telling me how much you loved it and that you would like to see more of these “personal stuff meets beauty” kinds of posts, so here’s a mini-series for you!

As you know, my Mom was able to visit me in September, and that’s why I wasn’t really working at all that month. I scheduled as many posts in advance as I could and just enjoyed my time with her without worrying too much about blogging deadlines. Sadly, I am only able to see her once a year at best, because my parents live in Moscow, Russia, so it’s not exactly a cheap trip. By the way, I haven’t seen my Dad since 2012, but luckily him and Mom made plans to come visit me together in March.

While Mom was visiting, she decided to stock up on nail polish, because as far as I know Zoya is not officially sold in Russia [and if it is, I’m sure it’s a lot more expensive]. She is totally a girly girl, so most of her picks gravitated toward pink hues, although she chose a few other colors which I will cover in Part III.

Those four pink shades she bought were Wendy, Yana, Harper, and Caprice. Looks like her and I have a lot in common when it comes to nail polish colors, because I totally loved her picks!

Zoya describes Wendy as a cool summer melon creme, but this shade screams Spring to me. It’s sort of like a pastel peachy melon, and it looks a lot pinker in person than it does on Zoya website. The color is very beautiful, and I can see myself buying a lip gloss in the same shade if I saw it at the store. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if I already own something like that 😉 The formula is great – two coats for full opacity, and as with most cremes, it’s better to be patient and try to apply it slowly to avoid streaks.

Yana is described as cool geranium pink creme with very fine silvery microscopic shimmer, but to me it appears more raspberry’ish in person, because all of the geraniums I’ve ever seen were more red or more coral than that. Again, the formula is fantastic – two coats for full opacity.

Caprice is a tricky one. On Zoya website it looks more orchid, in person it’s pink fuchsia, and on the nails it’s bright rosy watermelon. I have no idea how that works, or why there’s such color discrepancy, but I do like the final color after all. However, both Mom and I were very confused when she received her order and it looked nothing like the picture on Zoya.com.

Last nail polish shade that I will be sharing with you today is Harper, described as a fun cotton candy pink with gold glitters. Mom normally only wears cremes on her fingers, but she loves experimenting with pedicure colors. After all, if it looks too wild, she could always hide it inside shoes or socks. She loved Harper so much, she will actually wear it on her fingers! This glitter looks great when worn alone, or layered over another color. We tried sandwiching it with Wendy [swatched above], and the result was very pretty!

Well, that’s it for today, folks, I really hope you enjoyed this post, and stay tuned for Part II and Part III in the upcoming weeks where I will feature her nudes/neutrals and brights [although IMO some of these are vivid enough to be considered bright].

Do you have a favorite pink nail polish?
