Delicious Banana Honey Oatmeal Recipe

Nothing to Disclose

No, you’re not in the wrong place, this is still Glamorable! Truth is, I like cooking almost as much as I like beauty products, so I decided to share my favorite recipes with you from time to time. I don’t plan to do it often, maybe every other week or less, but rest assured, beauty is still what this blog is all about and it will always stay that way.

I didn’t used to eat breakfast until a few years ago, and I bet many of us went through that stage. As I grew older, I finally understood that a good breakfast prevents me from wanting to snack on unhealthy things in the middle of the day, and I also end up eating much smaller lunches. One of the healthiest things to eat for breakfast is of course oatmeal.

This recipe makes one [large!] serving of hot Banana Honey Oatmeal.

“The best way to start the day, this easy oatmeal recipe is my breakfast staple. A handful of nuts and berries will only make it better!”

Prep time:  | Cook time:  | Total time:  | Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients:
Milk: 1 1/2 cups
Steel cut oats: 1/3 cup
Banana: 1
Almond butter: 1 tbs
Honey: 1 tbs
Vanilla extract: 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon: 1/2 tsp

Optional:Berries, Protein powder, Chia, flax, hemp seeds, Slivered almonds

Directions:

1. Pour milk into a small saucepan and turn up the heat.
2. When milk reaches the boiling point, add the oats, cover, and simmer on low for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the amount of oats and milk if you like your oatmeal less runny.
3. While the oatmeal cooks, chop your nuts and berries.
4. When ready, take the saucepan off the burner and stir in chopped banana, almond butter [you can use peanut butter if you like], honey, vanilla extract and cinnamon. If you are using frozen fruit, make sure to add it last.
5. Pour into a bowl, and enjoy!

I added some extras to my oatmeal today – a handful of frozen strawberries, ground flax & chia mix, and slivered almonds for additional nutrition; then sprinkled a little bit of granola on top for decoration. Yum!
