Alessandro Nail Polish in Peppermint Patty, Red Carpet, Wild Cat & Purple Purpose Review, Swatches, Pictures

pr sample

Hello, lovelies! I’m very excited to introduce you to one of my all-time favorite nail polish companies. I’ve been a huge fan of alessandro nail polishes, and used them almost exclusively back when I lived in Russia. Now this amazing brand has come to the western market, so I could hardly wait to share this post with you 🙂 For this review I received four gorgeous colors: Red Carpet, Peppermint Patty, Purple Purpose, and Wild Cat. I also got a jar of Coco Mango Nail Butter, and considering how brittle my nails are, I’m always happy to try a new nail treatment.

BRAND OVERVIEW

“Since 1989, alessandro International has stood for unrivalled quality, exclusivity and innovation. Their standards are the same now as they were then: they are never satisfied with “good” – they want to be “better”! It is a motto that fills alessandro with pride and upon which the company has laid the greatest value for more than 20 years.”

Let’s start with the classics. Red Carpet is a gorgeous medium warm red creme, it’s extremely pigmented so one thin coat is all it takes for full opacity. The formula is a bit runny, but I didn’t have any problems with that, but I figured it’s still worth mentioning. In the swatches above I’m wearing two coats of nail polish, sealed with glossy top coat. As with most pigmented colors, adding a thick layer of base coat is highly recommended to prevent staining. This shade lasted seven days without chipping.

Second stunner is called Peppermint Patty, a darling pastel mint creme. The formula was just a tad bit goopy, but I swear, I have never seen a pastel color that wasn’t on a thick side. In the swatches above I’m wearing three coats of nail polish and a thin layer of glossy top coat. This color lasted seven days on my nails before it started chipping along the cuticle edge. I must say, the tips were still intact, which is impressive!

Wild Cat is probably my favorite of the four, it’s a gorgeous blackened antique gold metallic microglitter, densely packed to ensure full opacity in two coats. I love it so much, I’m rocking it right now! This color goes on smoothly and evenly, the formula is like butter. This shade lasted eight days on my nails, and I’m wearing it again today.

Last but not least, Purple Purpose is a gorgeous pinkish purple with silver microglitter. The formula is comparable to Wild Cat in it’s opacity and “butteriness”. It also lasted eight days!

Alessandro Coco Mango Nail Butter

For this review I also received a jar of Coco Mango Nail Butter, which alessandro describes as a “sensuous nail butter formulated with Mango Oil to moisturize and revitalize dry skin. Other revitalizing ingredients include Shea Butter to promote cell regeneration and circulation, and antioxidant rich Green Tea, resulting in radiant and younger looking skin.”

Alessandro Coco Mango Nail butter – 10 minutes after application

Most nail care products are very concentrated, and this butter was no different. I scooped a tiny amount and massaged it in my nails and cuticles. The effect wasn’t instant, and took about 15 minutes for the oils and butters to work their magic, but after a while my nails looked a lot healthier and less brittle. I will make it a habit to apply some of this butter after using nail polish remover.

THE VERDICT
Long story short, I’m very happy that I had a chance to show you these nail polishes, and I’m even happier that I can now buy them in the US, because alessandro used to be my favorite nail polish brand back in Russia. The formulas are just as great as I remember them: even, fast-drying, and long-lasting. The brushes are short and wide, making it easy to cover a large area with just one swipe.
